Recruiting and Retention Command Sergeant Major (Aug 2020-Pres)

Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Commander and staff in matters pertaining to approximately 60 Full-Time Soldiers and NCOs and 250 Traditional Soldiers.

Wisconsin Army National Guard

Recruiting and Retention (December 2008 – August 2020)

Own the full lifecycle recruiting process including sourcing, screening, applicant processing, enlistment, and onboarding. Maintain the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) to ensure analytics accuracy. I regularly exceed my recruiting quarterly and yearly quotas. Selected as National Guard Recruiter of the Year in 2012. First and only time a Wisconsin Recruiter has won the National award. Led the State of Wisconsin in Production Recruiting 3 years consecutively.

Collaborate with local business owners and public-school officials to create community events to attract passive candidates. Proactively build a diverse pipeline of candidates through networking and online marketing. Conduct on-campus recruiting at high schools and universities. I’ve created recruiting programs that have been used nationwide.

Develop and execute comprehensive recruiting plans, using analytics to identify recruiting roadblocks and solutions, capitalizing on current trends to increase my organization’s DoD market share. I’ve outperformed competitor branches in my assigned areas by consistently capturing over 40% of the market share.

Train and mentor new recruiters on sourcing tactics and the full recruitment process. Worked closely with and trained the Wisconsin Diversity Team on prospecting and conducting recruiting events in our minority communities, resulting in over a 50% increase in minority accessions.

Provide military commanders with monthly up-to-date retention, attrition, and workplace climate reports. Advise them on optimal backfill and retention strategy. Interview current Soldiers and facilitate contract extensions.

US Army

Unmanned Aerial Systems Maintenance Chief (February 2002 – December 2008) Fort Bragg, North Carolina & Iraq

Senior Maintenance Supervisor that supervised 7 other maintainers while planning, coordinating, and directing all the field maintenance of unmanned aerial vehicles and mechanical equipment.

Planned and provided technical unit level training. Trained 74 Soldiers on how to properly use and troubleshoot power generation systems in a combat environment.

Assisted in the planning, coordination, execution, and tracking of military missions utilizing unmanned aerial systems during 4 combat deployments. Created Standard Operating Procedures that were used throughout all areas of Iraq.

Successfully logged over 3,200 incident free flight hours and 325 incident free aerial missions, more than any other combat unit.
