Assigned to Pfizer Inc in Parsippany, New Jersey with a $100 million dollar project. My organizational position was Construction Program Manager managing the Const. Mgr., Fluor and interface with the A&E. Key activities being reviewed included BOD development, estimate analysis, S/C reviews, Safety & QA planning, Union Labor Strategy/Market survey and Project Execution development. Project placed on hold in November, 2005.

Manage the preparation of proposals for various clients inc. Pfizer, Merck, API, and Aventis. Interface with Owner’s at pre-bid meetings and make presentations. Review constructability of facilities for Aventis future flu vaccine in Pennsylvania. Write the standard Project Execution Plan for use at the construction sites. Develop Labor Union Mgt. plan for implementation on union projects. Perform risk analysis reference craft hours, schedule and productivity and area saturation criteria. Meet with major contractors to brainstorm solutions to constraints.

Directed Construction and Start-Up for:

PSEG Power New York Bethlehem Energy Center, a $483 million 763 MW combined cycle generation project in Bethlehem, New York.

PSEG Power Linden Generating Station Project, a $711 million 1218 combined cycle generation repowering and expansion project in Linden, New Jersey.

PSEG Power Lawrenceburg Energy Project, a $675 million 1096 MW combined cycle generation project in Lawrenceburg, Indiana.

PSEG Power Cross Hudson Project, a $250 million 600 MW transmission project from New Jersey to New York City. Participated in planning, development, estimation, due diligence review, and labor assessment.

Selected Accomplishments:

Directed the development of a broad range of departmental standards based on industry initiatives to streamline, consolidate, standardize, and modernize construction and project management processes.

Co-developed the Labor Management Initiative, a coalition of PSEG Power, Unions, and Contractors to collectively manage labor at all construction projects.

Obtained the consensus of International Union presidents for the Labor Management Initiative. Rolled out the Initiative to PSEG Power Bethlehem, Linden, and Lawrenceburg Projects.

Interfaced with project controls and corporate estimating departments to provide analyses, projections, and preventive measures for anticipated cost, schedule, and productivity issues at major construction projects.

Developed and maintained working relations with international, regional, and local officers for electrical worker, boilermaker, pipefitter, and other unions for of PSEG Power. Served as company advocate at union events.

POWER PROJECTS:

Construction Manager - Kennedy Energy Center Project 1993 to 1995

Managed construction of a $120 million Project for PSE&G & Brooklyn Power & Gas. Upgrade and expansion of Central Heating and Cooling plants for the Kennedy International Airport Cogeneration Plant. Managed 60 employees and 40 contractors through construction, start-up, and turnover. Peak Union Craft on-site approx. 500. Completed Project in 16 months through severe 1993-1994 winter. Work scope included re-routing Jet Fuel lines and Power Cable duct banks in the Gas Turbine and HRSG Block locations. Shored trenches, Sheeting and Duct banks of 480 V asbestos coated Conduit had to be re-routed to accomplish the Pile driving effort.

Project Manager - Enron Power Corporation IP Project 1992 to 1996

Managed a $120 million 150/300 MW combined cycle Cogeneration Project in Milford, Massachusetts. Managed project team and contractors from bid package preparation through construction to start-up and turnover. Project completed in Thirteen months and under budget. Awarded the “Engineering Record” Infrastructure Power Project of the year in 1995. Site work included Blasting Rock formations, allowing the Pile Driving to start. Directed a new Logistic plan that allowed (8) U/G Utility Operations to start in various areas without affecting the Project schedule. This Logistic plan opened (2) of the three Power Blocks to start U/G Construction simultaneously.

PHARMACEUTICAL PROJECTS

J.A. JONES CONSTRUCTION COMPANY

Project Director - Bristol Meyers-Squibb Project 2000 to 2002

Directed construction of a $180 million scale-up production facility for Bristol Meyers-Squibb in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Facility included four major utility buildings, additions, 2.5 million cubic foot facility, interface with A&E, BMS, Subcontractors, Unions, and Local township inspectors. Managed the S/C procurement cycle, field craft of 500, schedule, cost procurement functions including Quality and Safety Programs. Site work included an initial 4 month period of U/G Construction to remove unknown Structures, Duct Banks, Cellars and (5) Toxic & Tainted soils. Devised, Developed Managed a schedule & Logistics Plan which allowed key areas to start Construction while the other areas were being remediated. All Concrete and Tainted soils were processed per OSHA Rules.

Project Director - Merck Pharmaceutical Project 1999-2000

V Directed construction of a $100 million Merit Shop Project for existing facility and greenfield site expansions in Wilson, North Carolina. Project included quality assurance laboratory, warehouse, packaging plant, and site upgrades. Managed EPC contract. Served as interface for owner, contractors, and subcontractors. Developed a Earth removal plan requiring a 700 ft long by 200 ft wide and 8 ft deep excavation plan. 40,000 cy of soil was excavated and approx 50,000 cy placed & compacted. U/G Piping Systems & Conduit Duct were placed during the Construction Backfill Operations.

Construction Manager - Merck Pharmaceutical Cherokee Project 1998 to 1999

Managed construction of the Cherokee Project in Danville, Pennsylvania, a $100 million retrofit, expansion, and upgrade comprised of four major projects. Oversaw two project managers and managed engineering, procurement, labor, and construction including union interface.

Senior Project Manager - Merck Chemical Flint River Project 1996 to 1997

Managed the Flint River Project in Albany, Georgia, a $70 million modernization of five major projects. Used CII control tools and management systems. Completed projects ahead of schedule and under budget. Client requested an executive analysis to determine how costs were managed.

Construction Manager - PQ Corporation Project 1991 to 1992

Managed construction of a $40 million plant for the Zeolite Production Facility in Augusta, Georgia. Managed all field planning and construction activities and project cost, schedule, and quality. Completed project under budget and two weeks ahead of nine-month fast track schedule and six-month expansion project schedule.

Senior Project Manager - Anheuser-Busch Brewery Project 1995 to 1996

Managed a $40 million power and expansion project for Anheuser-Busch in Newark, New Jersey. Project included construction of a 13 MW Cogen Plant and various capital projects thru all plant production areas.

Managed a $50 million expansion project in Newark, New Jersey, including brewhouse, stock house, and packaging areas. Served as liaison between owner, labor unions, contractors, and safety and quality assurance professionals. Supervised completion and closeout of 120 construction contracts.

Managed construction of a $150 million project in Newark, New Jersey. Responsible for design constructability review and field scheduling. Integrated owner scheduling requirements with design and engineering start-up constraints. Area Manager - Anheuser-Busch Brewery Project 1984 to 1987

Served as area manager for $100 million brewery renovation and modernization project in Newark, New Jersey. Issued bid packages, awarded subcontracts, monitored construction, and managed field superintendents and engineers from the constructability phase through execution and start-up. (3) Construction sites including the Brewhouse, Powerhouse and Stockhouse were involved with U/G excavations, Sheet Piling, Shoring and Pile Driving activities. Thousands of Piles were driven & Poured. Each Pile was driven to designed Blows per foot.

Area Superintendent - Anheuser-Busch Brewery Project 1980 to 1984

Served as superintendent for $120 million brewery renovation, demolition, and expansion project in Baldwinsville, New York. Scheduled and supervised direct hire craft crews of laborers, masons, ironworkers, millwrights, pipefitters, and boilermakers. Interfaced with subcontractors and monitored progress.
