LETTER OF APPLICATION

Dear Sir/Madam,

I, Megan Chetty, am applying for the available position as I believe I am exceedingly fit to fulfil it. Being as goal and deadline driven as I am, able to exceed all expectations, immensely persuasive in negotiations and have undergone professional training regarding problem solving and decision making, I know I handle stressful and pressurizing situations extremely well.

Furthermore, I have worked closely and continuously with tools such as Microsoft Office including Word, Power Point, Teams and Excel – equipping me with the ability to successfully complete admin related work.

Although my degree focused greatly on Psychology in education, a large sum of my studies has equipped me with the ability to work with numbers and graphs, letters and communications, in statistics and research methodology including data analysis and understanding the way in which people think. This degree (Bachelor of Social Science) has equipped me with a vast and wide knowledge to successfully fulfil this position in all aspects. I do believe that with all the skills and attributes I hold, I can contribute greatly to the institution.

Yours Sincerely, Megan

Chetty.

DATE OF BIRTH: 12 July 2000

2. EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

- Port Shepstone High School

[2014 – 2018]

Throughout my schooling career, I would continually challenge myself to participate and do things that I would usually shy away from. Between Grade 8 and Grade 10, I became part of the Girls Touch Rugby teams while beginning my volunteer work in various committees within the school and outside organizations. While doing so, I found myself learning to balance all subjects extremely well especially those I specifically chose – Pure Mathematics, Physical Science, Life Science and Accounting. Taking on many roles and duties, I learned that all can be accomplished and balanced well if you aim to remain consistent in your commitment and hard work towards them. As a result, I achieved my Bachelors Pass in my matric year, and thus obtaining my National Senior Certificate (Please see attached at the end).

- University of Kwa-Zulu Natal

[2019 – 2022]

After High School, I flew out into the bigger world of students in University, while studying to achieve my Bachelor of Social Science Degree – majoring in Criminology and Forensic Studies, and Psychology – where I took on electives such as Ethics, Statistics, Psychology in Education, and so many more… Although many find themselves nervous and uneasy during their first year of university, I found myself leaping at any progressive, improving opportunity that I could come across – this included formulating a committee which stood for student tenants who (commonly) were treated poorly by landlords/landladies around campus, and those students who allowed it due to their lack of knowledge of their rights as students and first-time students. This, along with joining other students parties, and adapting to the difference in schoolwork compared to high school, was easily balanced once I learned to adapt and as I embraced each opportunity and the change that came with it.

However, these opportunities were minimized once my second year at campus began as we were sent home to prepare for the national lockdown in 2020. Although this brought the country to a standstill, our university work did not cease. In fact, they increased immensely. Having to adapt to the new method of attending classes virtually, querying and receiving answers via email and a lack of direct interaction with our lecturers, I was still able to excel and achieve my degree with Deans Commendation and distinctions along the way. This has been one of the biggest lessons I have learned – that regardless of the lack of resources, equipment and assistance, if you really wish to achieve success in something, you must strive to do so and refuse to give up.

3. VOLUNTEER WORK

- STACA: Sheppie Teens Against Cancer and Aids

Throughout my high school career, I focused a great deal on a committee which raised funds and supported organizations which dealt with victims and patients of Cancer and AIDS. By doing so, we had organized and catered for many events and functions which raised funds for these victims. We would also set aside days of our holiday or weekend to spend with patients of cancer and aids. This has not only been an enrichening experience for us to be able to help those in need, but it has also taught us great humility and gratitude towards everyone and has shed light on education regarding various other diseases.

- Drug Campaign with SAPS Port Shepstone

As part of one of my Life Orientation assignments, I was expected to raise awareness about one aspect in society which is detrimental to the wellness of the youth. To go the extra mile in creating awareness, I did ask permission to speak to and conduct interviews with various police Members within the drug unit at SAPS Police Station in Port Shepstone. Furthermore I did engage with social workers at Child Welfare In Port Shepstone who enlightened Me on the seriousness of drugs in society. After understanding how common the presence of drugs was at that specific time, I did raise awareness as far as I could at my age of 17 by including my peers and asking them to make posters and display them as well as a conducting a campaign by which we would educate younger peers within the school and in areas of Port Shepstone Where drugs are easily accessed.

- Dani-Leigh Occupational Therapy

(GENESIS CARE CENTRE)

During my July holiday break in 2018, I visited the Norwegian Settlers Church on which premises holds the Genesis Care Centre which occupies various care facilities

– one of which is Dani-Leigh Occupational Therapy. Danielle Leigh is an Occupational Therapist who dedicates her life to assist those who have succumbed to injuries through accidents or other medical health conditions, or even violence. By volunteering at this centre, I assisted by awaiting instructions of the Occupational Therapist, by feeding those in frail care, and by spending time and playing with those children in need of her assistance while they wait for their appointment. 4. AWARDS AND INTERESTS

- Lions Club Leadership Training [2017]

Towards the end of 2017, I excelled in a leadership course conducted by the Lions Club of Port Shepstone. The topics included Communication, Conflict Management, Goal Setting, Leadership Theory, People Skills and Leadership decision making. Although this course took place almost 5 years ago, there are so many lessons and teachings learnt that I apply in every-day life.

- Executive Council of Leaders of Port Shepstone High School (2017/18) Although matric is undoubtedly a stressful and extremely pressurizing year, towards the end of 2017, I, along with only 43 others, were appointed as the Executive Council of Leaders. Holding less than a quarter of the Grade’s population, our position was one of great responsibility and duty. We were tasked with duties such as crowd control and management and maintaining peace amongst the entire school during breaks which consisted of over 1000 pupils. This role has proven to be impactful on one's life as it has taught me great responsibility, determination, success in the completion of tasks and efficiency in completing them. One of the sayings that the leader of the ECL’s frequently recited was “the only time a task is completed is when it is done so correctly and to the best of one’s ability.” 5. EXPERIENCE

- Mega_Bakes_SA [March 2020 – March 2023]

During the initial implementation of the COVID-19 lockdown, I found myself battling in the confinement of my home, having come from campus environment where my days were always busy with various activities and meetings, to staying at home with only access to the boundaries of our yard and home. Having acquired the skill of novelty baking and confection catering over the years as a hobby, I began to expand my knowledge in that area resulting in the start of my business – Mega_Bakes_SA. Although I was a registered full-time student, baking and selling my products, and then accepting orders, was a schedule I learned to mater. This business was a complete success in Port Shepstone, resulting in the opening of my own store in June of 2022. This has not only equipped Me with the ability to take on large, strenuous tasks, but also the ability to complete them competently. Having completed orders for bigger organization and entities such as Port Shepstone Senior Primary School, Jai Hind Primary School, Hibiscus Hospital, Port Shepstone Regional Hospital, and so many more, I have not only learned the value of hard work, but also the ability to handle all admin-related tasks within the business. This included invoice formation, the use of Microsoft Office products such as Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Teams for business meetings.

Furthermore, I have also dealt with the month-to-month bookkeeping of the store and expenditure.

Running thus business has given me an all-rounding umbrella of experience as I’ve run it successfully throughout the duration of the property lease. These skills and the very same efficiency was still used, thereafter, having moved from Port Shepstone to Durban where I have still accepted casual orders for birthdays, etc. Below are a few of the reputable entities I have catered for: 1. Port Shepstone High School

1450 cupcakes for their annual birthday

144 assorted Desserts for their year end function

2. Jai Hind Primary School

1100 cupcakes for their year end class parties

3. Port Shepstone Senior Primary School

250 cupcakes for their Grade 5 fairy-tale day

All admin and finance related admin was appropriately self-documented as well as the catering and delivery of goods.

- BHEKIZIZWE PROJECTS AND CIVILS PTY LTD

Towards the end of the year (September 2022) I was employed as an administrator for Bhekizizwe Projects and Civils up until Early this year (March 2023) when I had to relocate.

This particular job has equipped me with a wide variety of administrative skills, telecommunication with clients and customers as well as working under pressure and assisting those clients in emergency situations.
