At YCH we deal with housing and treating youth from the Department of Corrections and Probation throughout the State. I am responsible for liaison between department, parents, Probation and Parole and the youth. Most of my duties consist of teaching and mentoring to these young men for the purpose of rehabilitating them successfully so they may go back to their families and reintegrate them safely back into the community. I am also involved in the treatment team meetings as well as goal setting and mental health counseling. Youth detention duties consisted of safety and supervision of adjudicated and non-adjudicated youth. Conducted head counts to ensure that each prisoner is present. Monitored conduct of prisoners in housing unit, or during work or recreational activities, according to established policies, regulations, and procedures to prevent escape or violence. Inspected conditions of locks, window bars, grills, doors, and gates at correctional facilities to ensure security and help prevent escapes. Recorded information, such as prisoner identification, charges, and incidences of inmate disturbance, and keep daily logs of prisoner activities.
