PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE*

May **** – present have continued a remote practice of Mechanical Engineering Design consulting, on the following projects: a cylindrical 2 person submarine, a new type of impact survivable hydrofoil, Installation of feedback loop temperature controlled chocolate Melangers, lighter than air cargo lift, design of prototype atmospheric CO2 absorption turbine, and various small injection molded plastic parts and 3D printed prototypes. Use UG NX for parametric solids, Nastran and Ansys for FEA, created non linear compound curved surfaces for turbine, and provided solid model files, or part and assembly drawings complete with GD&T.

February 2023 – present. Founder of the Bay Islands Hospital Advisory Group Foundation, and Project Manager for the same. Developed and organization for fundraising, and finishing the completion of the Bay Islands Hospital of Honduras. Liaising with the Ministry of Health, and the local municipal government, along with USAID, IDB, the Biden/Harris Northern triangle Initiative, Harvard Medical, and Tulane School of Medicine, in order to build a teaching hospital on the Island of Roatan.

July 2021 – February 2023. EKKO HQ, Inc. founder CEO. Developed the business and strategic plan for a primary and urgent care provider which delivers treatment to the patient. Hired staff, and implemented training program and patient visit protocols. Successfully launched business in April of 2022. Left business in the hands of the president, and VP of marketing and sales.

March2019 – June2021. Adelante Foundation Inc. Executive Director/Founder. Stepped back into this role specifically to develop and implement and new strategic plan for the organization. Utilized participatory decision-making approach, along with quantitative and qualitative survey methods to re-focus mission and goals, and assure buy-in of team. Through a diligent process design and project management approach was able to transform the microfinance organization from one of the least to one of the most competitive in the region. Worked with a team which developed a software/applications suite, which transformed the way day to day business is conducted, and now allows for a completely paperless process, along with real-time geo-location, data access and analytics, and a smart calendar application. Worked with the education department to create EVA, our online staff training/borrower education portal. As E.D. was responsible for numerous reports, to board and partner organizations, as well as supporting fundraising work to raise additional funds for expansion. During the pandemic lock-down, instituted a 100% virtual work methodology/loan restructuring options which ensured the survival of the organization.

Sept2017 – Mar2019. Elixir Republic, CEO/Founder. Designed and built a distillery and much of the equipment for producing rum, tropical fruit schnaps, and vodka made from yuca root. Perfected the process from raw material receiving, through maching and fermentation, through six stage distillation.

Aug10-Aug17. Oro Maya LLC and Oro Maya S.deR.L. of Honduras, CEO/Founder. Wrote several business plans which were shopped to a number of VC groups. Designed and built a chocolate factory which uses renewable energy solutions in its processes. Established a vertically integrated method of producing chocolate, providing a better standard of living for the Farmers we work with. C OM fermentation and drying processes, and designed and build all of the Chocolate manufacturing equipment. Expanded sales from Central America to the United States, Europe and the Caribbean. Our dark chocolate has won many awards world wide.

Feb10-Apr10 Schilling Robotics, HPU Lead Designer. Consultant to redesign the main hydraulic power assembly for a new heavy submersible ROV.

Feb09-feb10 Stone Engineering and Design, CEO and Lead Design Engineer working on the following Mechanical engineering contracts:

- Design and prototyping of 2 person and 9 person towable submarines for the tourist and research markets.

- Business Development of a new chocolate factory and the layout and design of the production floor and building utilizing the latest technology in energy efficient HVAC, lighting and waste water conditioning,

- Design of new architectural tubing coupler for quick erecting temporary structures (patent pending).

June08-Feb09. Paragon Products LLC, Engineering Manager to a team of 7 Engineers, responsible for the design and manufacture of oil and fuel transfer pumps for large frame engines on Locomotives and Marine applications. Team comprised 4 Mechanical engineers (including myself), 2 electrical engineers, and one test engineer. Led 5 new design projects, all of which were on schedule when I left. Designed PWM controlled brushless induction motor driven pumps, large engine driven helical gear dual pressure oil pumps, large engine driven centrifugal pumps, and a series of relief valves.

Jan07-May08. Harbor Plastics, Sr. Design Engineer for an Injection Molded plastics manufacturing company in San Jose. Designed injection molded plastic parts for fluid ducting applications on in-home spas. Worked as an independent consultant, utilizing UG NX5. Involved complex freeform parts and assemblies for the hot tub industry.

1999- 2006. Adelante Foundation Inc., La Ceiba, Honduras, Executive Director – Founded and managed non-profit organization providing micro-credit services and education to over 5,000 of the poorest of the poor women in rural Honduras. Managed over 50 employees and raised over 3 million dollars. Currently serve as Board Chairman.

1998-99. Space Systems Loral, Palo Alto CA, Managing Engineer – Supervised the design of a multidirectional satellite radio antenna for XM radio.

1997-98. Philips Electronics, Palo Alto CA, Managing Engineer – Supervised team of engineers to design consumer electronics products which included TiVo and a personal eyepiece LCD screen.

1995-97 Aerojet, Folsom CA, Sr. Engineer – Designed RAM/SCRAM jet/air- breathing rocket engine geometry for Single Stage to Orbit Transport. Also worked on project responsible for retrofitting a Russian rocket engine for commercial launch use. Responsible for the redesign of the cryogenic turbine and valves.

1994-95 McDonnell Douglas Space Systems, Huntington Beach CA, Delta II Structural Design Group Member – designed second stage liquid oxygen system for Delta II rocket.

1992-94 Northrop Grummon, El Segundo CA, Lead Engineer F 18 E/F – designed ram air heat exchanger ducting system.

1990-92 McDonnell Douglass Space Systems, Huntington Beach CA, Mechanical Systems Engineer – designed shuttle docking mast on space station Freedom.

Awarded Silver JF Lincoln Award for design/build/test of two man submarine

(currently displayed at the San Francisco National Maritime Museum).

Awarded Bronze JF Lincoln Award for design of scale model of Mars Rover.

Runner up for JF Lincoln Award for Masters level design of astronaut held pipe cutter for Space Station Freedom.

Approximately 20,000+ hrs experience on Unigraphics, 500 hrs ProE, Parameterization, GD and T, FEA, CFD, and Thermal Analysis using ANSYS and NASTRAN programs. Proficient with PCs and standard programs. Arc, MIG, and TIG (Aluminum and Ti) welding proficiency. Considerable writing and public speaking experience. 100% fluent in Spanish. Licensed Pilot.
