vCHS-DR is a provider that facilitates Disaster Recovery for Tenant vSphere with replication. A Virtual datacenter (VDC) on vCHS service will be "DR enabled", which adds additional UI to VDC for monitoring and controlling VM replications, as well as controls test and failover of VMs. VDC has a Disaster Recovery label if “DR enabled” on vCHS UI. The process for creating or editing a VDC to make it DR-enabled will be done through VCD administrator UI.

The DR enabled VDC has all the normal features of a VDC plus the DR functionality. Once VMs are failed over to the VDC, the customer can access and use the VMs there for an indefinite period of time. The customer can also provision new VMs in the VDC at any time. They may want, for instance, to add objects there that will be used after a recovery event. So at any time, they can have a mix of replicating, failed over, and new VMs. Customers will be charged based on the storage capacity used, but they may also be charged more for a DR-enabled VDC than for the same amount of storage in a normal VDC. Usage and charging metrics will appear in the UI.
