PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Live! – Pittsburgh Casino

Assistant Security Manager (October 2020 – Present)

I currently maintain direct oversight of the daily operations of the casino Security Department to ensure strict compliance with company policy and PA Gaming Control Board regulations. In doing so, I have been instrumental in developing standard operating procedures and authoring written memorandums regarding the physical safety of guests, employees, and company assets for a newly established and flourishing casino.

I am responsible for the completion of the daily duty roster, scheduling special events and training, documenting attendance and leave utilizing Virtual Roster software. I continued to effectively satisfy mandated PA Gaming Control Board staffing requirements during the COVID pandemic and continue to do so, while encountering challenging employee retention situations. I also maintain the responsibility of interviewing and selecting prospective Security Department job applicants.

I review, investigate, and effectively resolve all guest and internal complaints pertaining to policy and the conduct of casino personnel, resulting in an enjoyable entertainment experience for guests and a harmonious work environment for employees. I also actively participate as a member of the Live! – Pittsburgh, Risk and Safety Committee by authoring regular safety reports and addressing hazardous or unsafe conditions to ensure the safety of all guests and employees.

Pennsylvania State Police

Captain / Troop Commander (March 2020 – October 2020) Butler, PA

I was promoted to the executive level position of Troop Commander, entrusted to ensure the successful operations of troop-wide patrol, crime, staff services, and administrative functions. I exercised primary authority over the daily activities of five PA State Police stations and approximately 262 enlisted and administrative personnel.

I closely monitored and ensured timely completion of the administrative responsibilities of the troop to include approvals and authorizations, facility and equipment management, detailed documentation, and record keeping. I exercised sound fiscal responsibility by operating within budget constraints and utilizing all resources judiciously. I also effectively resolved all collective bargaining agreement issues brought to my attention without grievance or arbitration intervention.

I mentored subordinates by observing their performance, communicating my expectations, and documenting any perceived performance strengths and weaknesses. I provided appropriate counseling, corrected undesirable performance, and administered discipline or praise as appropriate. I completed accurate performance evaluations for employees at all ranks and positions, provided my personal insight regarding their achievements and areas in need of their improvement.

I oversaw the internal investigation process in the troop by reviewing, evaluating, and endorsing investigations conducted by the Bureau of Integrity and Professional Standards. I expeditiously adjudicated conduct as directed by regulation and provided my insight to affected personnel as to the appropriateness of their actions.

I assumed command at the beginning of the COVID pandemic. I instituted untested policies and procedures that proved to be instrumental in ensuring the health and well-being of the members of my command and their families, while ensuring the uninterrupted operations of the troop and providing the highest level of police services to the community.

Lieutenant / Station Commander (August 2016 – March 2020) Belle Vernon, PA

I was promoted to the executive level position of Station Commander of a relatively undermanaged station, which lacked continuity of command. In as much, I reinforced department and troop policies at the station level and developed station orders to resolve issues that were left ignored.

I placed significant emphasis on mentoring personnel by monitoring, documenting, and evaluating their work performance and encouraged their professional growth. I was successful in resolving conflicts by clearly defining my expectations of them as individuals and a station, I reevaluated and assigned work responsibilities equitably and closely monitored compliance with rules, policies, and regulations. I effectively gained the trust and respect of first line supervisors, which ultimately resulted in highly productive patrol and criminal investigation units. During my tenure, the station experienced an increase in personnel resulting in a full complement in both the Patrol and Criminal Investigation Units.

I contributed to positive community relations by developing a relationship with municipal police department heads in the station area, with news media and the public, and speaking at community meetings to coordinate activities, provide and receive information and promote the image of the department.

Sergeant / Patrol, Crime, Staff Services Sections (June 2011 – August 2016) Troops A, B, K

I was responsible for the overall administration of the Troop A, Greensburg Patrol Section, which was one of the most highly productive and bustling patrol units in the department. I maintained oversight of Troopers and Corporals assigned to the Patrol, Vehicle Fraud, Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program, and Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Specialist Units. The Patrol Unit made significant strides in improving operations and experienced increased morale while under my purview.

I was responsible for the overall administration of the Troop B, Uniontown Criminal Investigation Section, which was one of the largest criminal investigation units in the department and arguably the most active in terms of the volume of incidents handled annually. I diligently reviewed the progress of investigations, offered direction and advice, and ensured all legal processes were followed.

I was responsible for the overall administration of the Troop K, Philadelphia Staff Services Section. My responsibilities consisted of oversight of all physical evidence taken into custody, completion of CALEA accreditation for Troop K, coordination of troop-wide station inspections and numerous other administrative requirements.

Corporal, Forensic Services Unit, Troop A, Greensburg (August 2008 – June 2011)

I was responsible for the immediate supervision of the Forensic Services Unit while I continued to respond to and effectively investigate crime scenes. I ensured that an exceptional work product was completed by members of the unit and timely, accurate reports were prepared for prosecution.

I ensured scheduling encompassed all shifts, members attended required and/or voluntary training and remained responsible for unit equipment and vehicles.

I was promoted from the rank of Trooper and retained within the unit due to my diligence and outstanding performance reviews.

Trooper, Forensic Services Unit, Troop A, Greensburg / Patrol Unit, Troop A, Greensburg / Patrol Unit, Troop A, Somerset (March 1996 – August 2008)

I was responsible for processing and documenting crime scenes to include criminal homicide, robbery/burglary, sexual assault, serious traffic crashes and other offenses using advanced photography and modern processing techniques.

I performed patrol related duties and responded to calls for emergency police services. I provided expert testimony regarding fingerprint identification and crime scene investigation.
