Summary I am passionate about education and understanding through accountable/ credible research, analysis, and studying multiple points of view. My journey as a Language Arts teacher to a librarian has built unique and highly transferable skill sets. I am excited to use my skills in the education or private sectors. ● Created a Library Vision Committee with a representative from every department to decide its direction based on needs and obstacles to overcome.
● Taught orientation classes to learn about the library, informational literacy standards, and critical research methods to prep students
● Create and develop a clear and useful library website: o Connects it to our Destiny Follett website
o Houses tutorials in English and Turkish
o Guides students through EE IB Research & MEB (Turkey Ministry of Education) Research
o Provided pleasure and professional-development reading recommendations
● Identified deficits in library structures and organizations, especially eBook resources. This was fortuitous given COVID-19 needs around the world
● Create fun and thought-provoking displays using mix media
● Order books to fill the needs of the community
● Environmental Impact Committee - Created, proposed, recruited students and faculty for this unique committee. This year we focused on using hard data to assess energy and plastic waste to make environmentally conscious decisions for individuals, faculty, and administration. Think globally, act locally.
● Invited to be on the schools CIS (Council of International Schools) Steering Committee in which a team organizes and facilitates a school wide accreditation process, asked to apply for the IB (International Baccalaureate Diploma) Extended Essay Coordinator- guiding student and supervisors through their year-long essay process to earn the IB diploma SEV American College / prep English teacher
