TECHNICAL:

1. HSS Engineering project, the bridge

construction planks were cast at the

site. I was personally involved with

Pre-stressing wire rope Ø8mm which

yield strength 29.9 N/mm -35N/mm

calculated under M.S/ISO9001-2008.

2. Spun pile test: PDA evaluated bearing

capacity using transducer. In this case

most of the readings around 300mm-

450kN>, 600mm-1200kN>

3. Bore pile test: The hard layer were

tested using Point Load Test (PLT) is

conducted when hard layers

encountered while boring for the

bored piles being carried out. Design

specifications values of 1MPa>. When

a rock stratum is encountered, boring

carried out through it using a diamond

bit boring drill. The length of the

bored pile socketed in rock stratum is

referred to “rock socket length”

accordance to construction drawings.

4. Sonic logging to test for the integrity

of the concrete. 2% from the overall

piles.

5. First time doing the Statnamic Test

from regular MLT’s for the Bore pile

2xSWL 12000kN. The test lasted less

than 3min with loud explosive noise.

Total 3 bridge span involved series of pier columns. My duty at B1-383m & B2-371m. The last one is 2.2km. The ground at rural plantations palm oil area contain of peat soil to marine clay joining at Sg Pulai JOHOR which located in between of Kukup/Tg Bin and Tg Pelepas Port. Total cost RM640mil. Client is SEAPORT / MMC Berhad with subcontractor CHEC

(M) SDN BHD.

The total length of the bridge: 7.4km

Dual carriageway with span 22.5 meter

Marine clearance from the water: Vertical Clearance: 25m (3rd Bridge)

Horizontal /Navigational Clearance: 100m

(Center part of Bridge 3 only@ PIER 19 & PIER 20) Site Inspector: monitoring the daily output example: Inspect the excavation depth, ready for the pile cap work, rebar, formwork, concrete, etc. In bridge construction, if the site falls close to the river stream, sea, or even lakes, there will be an involvement marine protection act installing silt curtain, fence, and buoy. Depending on the site require a temporary bridge. Other administrative can be from daily site diary record, attending meetings, site discussions in related to any sudden changes in design to suit to the site condition.

Abutment A 680 piles- B 840 piles construction using 300mm ICP spun piles G90 at depth range from 33m pile length

Continue with series of pier columns P1-P11@600mm spun piles Left/Right 6piling points per pile caps/31-42m in depth. Continue 850m square column until crosshead using HT20-HT40.

P12-P16 bore pile Ø1000mm@12points at depth of 42-52m.Continue with column size at Ø2m. Sheet pile installation with an interlocking system is needed at this stage. Minimum length 24m.

P13-P34@Ø600mm spun piles. The maximum depth pile penetration around 46m.

Precast planks being used at spun pile columns expect the main crossings T-Beam 10no’s @30m, 40m &30m respectively. All spun piles driven to refusal length. B2-371m

Abutment A 480 piles- B 740 piles construction using 300mm ICP spun piles G90 at a depth range from 33m pile length. Some piling points required additional piles due to deviation from actual location. This is because of shear strength failure during strong tidal.

P1-P11 @600mm spun piles Left/Right 6piling points per pile cap/ 35m-44m. PDA test being carried out. 2xSWL 1200kN. Most of the piles exceed the requirement.

P12-P15 Bore pile Ø1000mm@ 12points. The penetration ranging from 44m-54m in length.

Continue with series of spun piles P16-28@Ø600mm Left/Right.

P29-P30 a bore pile Ø1000mm@ 12points. (Water pipe crossing 35m east to west )

Abutment B 390 spun pile Ø300mm joining to B3.
