VietAI FoDL Research Team 2023 - present

Finetuning OpenAI Whisper for Vietnamese ASR (not completed)

• Conducted comprehensive studies of the Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) system.

• Collected and preprocessed a large dataset of Vietnamese speech from youtube podcast to be used for fine-tuning purposes using cloud GPU.

• Conducted multiple iterations of training and testing to improve model performance using techniques like hy- perparameters tuning or cloud TPU training.

ACADEMIC PROJECTS

Vietnamese ASR Corpus (Github) 2023

• Investigated Vietnamese ASR models, using findings to build an optimized corpus.

• Utilize Wav2vec2 and VCTube tool and Hugging Face Datasets for YouTube data crawling, audio segmentation, and transcripting, efficient data processing and management.

• Ensured dataset accuracy by conducting WER analysis, enhanced data quality with preprocessing, including deduplication and careful audio alignment.

Neural Machine Translation (assignment of VietAI FoDL course) (Colab) 2023

• Implemented key components of the RNNs model with attention architecture, including word embeddings, encoder and decoder layers, and cross attention.
