Preliminary organization and continued supervision of summer work program for adjudicated youth – a partner project between Multnomah County and Friends of Trees.

Responsibilities included recruitment of juveniles from probation officers, interviewing and selecting youth, job and skill training, organizing and facilitating educational component, supervising work teams in the field and initiating appropriate disciplinary measures as needed as well as daily youth performance evaluation. Maintained weekly communication with probation officers regarding youth performance and progress. Liaison between county and non-profit organization. Lead crews of offenders during their community service hours. Supervise crew to ensure that rules set by county are followed. Motivate and model correct behaviors to crew. Examples of daily work are removing noxious weeds, digging ditches, picking up trash, raking leaves, etc. Interact with non-profit contacts to establish work parameters for individual projects. Shift work including evening and graveyard supervision of clients. Work with team of crew leaders to make decisions about destinations for individual offenders and to ensure proper paperwork is completed. Transport crewmembers in 15-passenger vans.
