Joined Arrow Electronics to Manage Oracle Applications after Arrow Bought IBM and HP Distribution

Business from Agilysys. I managed the Oracle Financials for Arrow Electronics for 2 years while Arrow Electronics was migrating to Oracle ERP Platform.

Upon separation of System from Agilysys there were a number of challenges and issues to adapt and stabilize the Oracle Applications for Arrow Electronics. Accomplished the following tasks in the process

1)I did a number of AP setups for the Chase Bank and positive pay file generation and automatic transfer to the Bank through the web methods.

2)Modified programs to print the AP checks on the Arrow check documents. It was a great accomplishment.

3)I did set ups for Lockbox process Automation for Arrow. The Bank of America EDI Format 823 files transmission was successfully incorporated into Oracle Apps Automated Lockbox Processing and it is very well stabilized within a short period of time. It was a great accomplishment too.

4)Monitored the daily Invoice Processing and Printing. Initially I did set up of printing the AR invoices at Corporate Office in New York

5)Participated in month end process and worked with Business Managers for closing the Period for the Month.

6)I supported Oracle Applications AP/AR/GL Modules and worked with users to resolve any issues that arose.

Participated in Arrow Oracle ERP Implementation and Contributed in Keylink OFS Integration with Arrow Electronics ASCENT Project.

Joined Agilysys as a Oracle Applications consultant on a 3 months TEMP to PERM basis in NOV-06. At that time there were a number of issues with AP/AR process. I worked on the following issues and stabilized the Oracle Financials Applications

1)Oracle Alerts weren’t working as expected, causing a lot of wrong emails and confusions. I fixed all the alert jobs and controlled the information flow.

2)AP checks were not getting printed automatically due to missed timings causing the AP manager’s anxiety and our manual effort for dropping the files for printing. I fixed it by solving the problems of Oracle Apps processes and the FTP processes.

3)I worked on many AR jobs code fixes making the processes work fine without causing any problems with user tasks and applications like getpaid(collections).

4)I worked on the AP 1099 for the year 2006. The challenge was adding about 50 PCARD entries manually which were not in Oracle. I worked with AP managers for the automatic filing of electronic copy of 1099 with the IRS website.

I worked on a number of AP/AR jobs related to KeyLink Divestiture.

Joined a team of 6 to develop ETL programs & procedures in Teradata SQL to create a Virtual Data Model linking 2 data models so that the end users will see the two data models as one entity for Clinical Data Reporting.

Thomson Medstat was working with CMS (Center for Medicare Medicaid Services) to integrate the huge CMS database in Teradata with Medstat Application database so that the various CMS bodies can effectively use the COTS (Commercial Off the Shelf ) products for various purposes like Program Integrity, Fraud Detection, Research, Program effectiveness. Thomson Medstat’s ’Decision Analyst’ is a very effective end user Clinical Data Analysis and Reporting tool.

Oracle Applications 11i on database 9i :

Oracle ERP for Order to Cash was successfully implemented in Oct-2005 after developing for about 2 years. Post implementation Application Stabilization was a big challenge. I played a critical role in Stabilizing Oracle A/R Module.

I supported Oracle Applications - Oracle HRMS/Payroll, Oracle Accounts Receivables, Oracle Accounts Payables, Oracle Cash Management, Oracle General Ledger, Oracle Fixed Assets which were maintained under Oracle Applications 11.5.9 on database 9i.

I participated as a team member in database upgrade from 8i to 9i and application upgrade from 11.5.6 to 11.5.9. I played a reasonable role in stabilizing the Application and reducing the call volume.

Worked on OnBase documents user and OnBase database user for user data problems. Onbase is the Document Image Repository System for the Corporation and It seamlessly integrates with any system.

Notable accomplishments :

1Testing the Entire Application after the DBAs apply periodic patches.

8I wrote a CRON run unix Shell Program that monitors all Concurrent Manager Jobs and sends an automated email to the listed members for any concurrent manager job that completes in warning or failure displaying the error log in the email text.

9I wrote a customized Oracle AR Collections Report that prints the Balance Due for a given set of parameters.

10I wrote an AP Check Printing Report under Oracle Apps Customized Objects taking the seeded Check Printing Report. This Report was used for Mexico Unit of the Client and to print customized Spanish Verbiage on the Checks and The checks are fed on a pre-printed continuous stationery on a Dot matrix Printer. The Report is being used for more than a year without an issue.

Data Warehouse Application & Business Objects Reporting :

I assumed the primary responsibility of Data Warehouse Application support and Business Objects Reporting Tool.

The data warehousing Application is hosted on a AIX based RS6000 server. The Data warehouse Application gets initiated through a CRON job. The data warehouse Application which starts at 12.00 MN and completes by 6.00 AM in the morning has the following 3 components :

1The ETL process consisting of the data transfer from legacy(Now Oracle Order management) application through a series of JCLs(Now APIs) scheduled on the HP3000/AIX Boxes. In all 26 files cross over from HP (Now Oracle OTC) to IW UNIX server.

2Data Load into Oracle 8i Database through a series perl scripts embedded SQLs & PL/SQLs 3 The Business Intelligence Reporting and Business Objects Reporting.

I was also responsible for Business Objects Server Administration involving, maintaining user profile, Broadcast Agent, troubleshooting user reports, maintaining universes, corporate documents, enhancement of Universes through BO Designer.

Business Objects Help Desk activities is a challenge as there were about 300 BO users and thousands of BO reports run against a host of different databases. I support user requests for Technical as well as Business reporting needs. Over a period of 2 years I have the credit of Stabilizing the Application. Data ware housing and BO Reporting is the most critical Application and the up time was maintained at 99.99 %.

I supported a number of interfaces that transferred data between the two main platforms HP legacy and AIX UNIX.

1I was part of a team that outsourced the data warehousing application in Department of Health & Human Services, North Carolina State Government.

2The application involved extensive coding in Micro Focus-COBOL (COBOL-85), Unix Shell Programming and SYBASE ASIQ RDBMS database & Business Objects Data reporting tool.

3I used my skills and experience to help automate existing manual Extract, Transformation & Load (ETL) process. In addition, I developed new automated ETL process for new source systems.

4The process begins with the Mainframe sending a trigger file to Unix system. Once the Unix system finds the trigger file, the cron job starts the automation process shell scripts that extract the data from Mainframe and transforms the binary files into ascii and loads the data into the Sybase data warehouse.
