Job Description
As an Assistant Director of Environmental Services, I oversee the work of four managers in the Environmental Services Department. The four managers overseas the tasks of housekeeping staff, also known as Basic Service Worker. There is the morning manager, the afternoon and night manager, the patient transport and operator’s manager, and the floor crew manager.
In addition to the above responsibility, I direct the operations of Columbus Clinic and the Laundry Department.
Reviewing standards and work procedures for all EVS staff following established policies and practices of Kern Medical facility. Planning work schedules, hours, areas of work, and job duties to ensure adequate EVS services are rendered in all areas. Interviewing, selecting, hiring, evaluating, and recommending termination of facility EVS personnel per facility standards. Orientating, training (developing), and supervising all EVS staff. Regularly inspecting and evaluating the facility's physical condition; recommending painting, repairs, and furnishings working together with the engineering department.
Conducting regular staff meetings and communicating with other departments members to coordinate EVS activities in their areas or floors. Rounding with hospital staff to ensure the hospital's cleanliness is up to state inspectors.
Ordering cleaning supplies for the EVS team, office supplies, and uniform and scheduling a major project, assuring adequate staff and supplies available to perform the tasks.
Conducting a regular inventory of EVS supplies and ordering the same, keeping costs in line with the director's approval. In addition, maintains and annually reviews standards and work procedures for all EVS staff according to established policies and practices of the facility.
Coordinate all outside services relative to the EVS department (i.e., Pest Control, Window Cleaning, Medical Waste, Solid Waste, Document Destruction, and EVS equipment floor and compactor maintenance.
Recommend to human resources to discipline associates when necessary, according to progressive disciplinary guidelines.
Investigating incidents as needed, reporting findings to the Department Director. Prepare disciplinary action notices and conduct follow-up as required.
Demonstrate and promote the facility's culture, values, and missions.

EVS Lead oversees the general EVS duties as assigned by regular schedule. Communicates shift team’s daily assignments and training. Updates all departmental logs ensuring smooth and orderly that transitions between shifts.
EVS Supervisor supervises an area of responsibility for the EVS department; ensures a consistently high level of environmental hygiene and aesthetics to patients, visitors, and staff. This position is also responsible for daily oversight of regulatory standards, financial stewardship of department operations and collaboration with other management and supervisory team members to support the department in its daily functions.
EVS Patient Advocate managed and maintained the HCAHPS program. Acted as the liaison between the healthcare facility and the environmental services department to ensure patient satisfaction.
