Detailed Description of Duties:

I assist with the special project for Federal Disability Case Processing Sites (FDCPS), assisting the Office of Disability Adjudication and Review

I review disability claims for which a hearing request was filed before the Office of Hearings and Appeals, to determine if an Administrative Law Judge can reverse the prior determination prior to a hearing.

After review of all medical issues, I consult with the regional medical staff and reverse prior determinations, when applicable.

I thoroughly reexamine all evidence on record and make an independent assessment, reviewing and considering the evidence as if no decision has previously been rendered.

02/2005-10/2009 Claims Authorizer,

Social Security Administration, Chicago, IL

Detailed Description of Duties:

As a Claims Authorizer in the Immediate Claims Taking Unit (ICTU), I interviewed applicants for Social Security retirement, survivors, and Medicare benefits.

I informed them of provisions and entitlement factors they must meet and requested supporting evidence. Upon receipt of all evidence, I reviewed and reconciled discrepancies in all types of claims, with particular focus on cases that were highly complex.

I analyzed and authorized award or disallowance action for all claims, considering all applicable rules and regulations.
