A NICU Head Nurse who is committed and has more than 19 years of nursing experience. Being a neonatal intensive care nurse has always been my goal because I have a strong desire to take care of the most vulnerable patients, including sick and/or premature newborns, to fight for the rights of helpless and vulnerable infants in their care, and to enhance infant outcomes and parental mental health. In order to effectively advocate for the improvement of health and well-being and minimize health inequities, I also feel the need to inform and empower parents and family members. I do this by using my own voice and elevating the voices of others.

• Introduced a new service to Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib Hospital; Health Education Service. The service is entitled to develop/sponsor hospital and community-based health education by promoting, designing, planning, implementing and evaluating health promotion activities.

• Designed and created checklists for different diagnosis to create a greater sense of confidence that the patient education process will be completed accurately and thoroughly.

• Worked collaboratively with other departments in identifying patient/family educational needs.

• Developed and designed patient educational materials tailored in a language, format and terminology that the patient can clearly understand.

• Established the Patient/Family Education Committee; to provide a forum for discussion, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient and family education.

• Assisted in coordinating a Breast Cancer Awareness Program at Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib Hospital over a period of one week. "Think Pink: Breast Care Awareness Campaign". The program included a list of interactive activities for the target population, such as short video clip, brochures in Arabic and English, demonstration on how to do the "Breast Self-Examination" and included some promotional gifts and services that the attendees enjoyed. The outcome of the campaign was successful with almost 200 free consultants by breast surgeon for high risk ladies, 100 free mammograms and ultrasounds and was successfully attended by more than 500 women that took advantage of this patient education event. And 5 women were detected breast cancer, referred to the surgeon and required surgery.

• While pursuing my Master's Degree in Health Education and Promotion, I designed, planned, implemented and evaluated a Breast feeding health education program "Breastfeeding Café",

“Infant CPR classes” and “Baby Café”.

• While pursuing my Master’s Degree in Health Education and Promotion, I made the videography and edited by myself the following “Think Pink”, “Prostate Cancer” and “Child Obesity” short clips.

• Conducted an outreach community and hospital based program; “Maternity Campaign”. The program included a list of interactive activities for the target population, such as Q/A on breast feeding myths & facts, brochures in Arabic and English, coloring station for kids “Color Safe”, little treats and positive messages for undisturbed breastfeeding in public “Nursing Mother’s Lounge” in Dubai. We had almost 100 walk-in individuals (single couples, pregnant ladies, nursing mothers, fathers and adolescents) who received education and counseling on the importance of breast feeding, breast feeding positions (mini poster display) and what are the benefits of breast feeding on mother and baby.

• Conducted an outreach community and hospital based program; “International Epilepsy Day”. The campaign included a list of interactive activities for the public, such as video clip (animated and informative video that explains how the electrode implant surgery happens), brochures “What is Epilepsy”, general information on how to respond when a person has a seizure (animated posters and live demonstration on when and how to call for help “Dial 998”. Add to that, we had a live children station; Cotton Candy Maker, coloring station for kids “Color Safe” and a variety of puzzles and memory games. More than 100 walk-in individuals who received education and counseling on

“What is Epilepsy”, prevalence of epilepsy worldwide and how to help someone having a seizure.

• Conducted a hospital-based program; “World Prematurity Day”. Attendees were mothers, fathers and other caregivers who have endured a premature birth. The aim is to raise awareness of preterm birth and the concerns raised about the issues associated with preterm birth.

• Conducted a school-based prevention program; Breast Cancer Awareness”. Attendees were children and school staff. The aim is to raise awareness and to promote behavior changes.

• In parallel to my career path and desire to promote a healthy life to our little ones. I used community-based programs to support new moms and experienced parents to come along and find out about breastfeeding, baby growth and development. The “Habibi Café” integrates education and support for parents and ensures around the clock access to resources that provide assistance with breast feeding, baby care, developmental growth, and environment safety to the public.
