I worked this in position from September 2018 to June 2019 as a kennel worker. I was entrusted with taking care of the animal’s needs and necessities. The necessities include walking the dogs, giving them water throughout the day, making sure they have their specific food and their correct amount, drawing blood when needed assisting in surgeries, and occasionally distributing medications to the correct animal.

PH Fabrication, 8301 Knoxville Rd. Lizella, GA 31052 — Fabricator Assistant and Trainee

I have worked as a fabricator in training every summer from the year of 2018 to August 21. In this position, I assisted the welders in building or repairing Hammill grates, grapple tines, chip mill drums, tractor buckets, and booms. This position also required me to travel to different chip mills in different states to help repair their equipment.

The veterinary diagnostics lab provides testing and results in interpretation services to veterinarians, livestock industries, and many other researchers who seek answers to their veterinary questions. I am currently working on an Electron Microscopy Photo Library project. This project is to pull past photos that were taken within the Diagnostics lab and update them into an online photo library that people can view and have to opportunity to learn and/or compare their findings to that of what is found at this particular lab.

Tifton Veterinary Diagnostic and Investigational Laboratory, 43 Brighton Rd, Tifton, GA 31793 - Internship

The veterinary diagnostics lab provides testing and results in interpretation services to veterinarians, livestock industries, and many other researchers who seek answers to their veterinary questions. Animal cases ranging from small to large send specific specimens/samples to be analyzed and interpreted to find what may be a cause of illness for a specific animal. Here I shadowed the lab technicians doing their tests and assisted in interpreting a few results of different animal cases. I had the opportunity to have hands-on experience while shadowing the doctors and technicians here with the lab beginning June 23rd, 2022 to August 1st.

PROJECTS

Tifton Animal Shelter — Volunteer

In my free time in the past, I volunteered at the Tifton Animal Shelter. I cleaned kennels, fed and watered the cats and dogs, and bathed them when it was needed.

GA Mounted Search and Rescue Team -Volunteer

The team and I help the local law enforcement patrol the parking lots on horseback, at the GA National Fairgrounds in Perry, GA. During our volunteer work, we start our patrol at sundown and continue with our duties until everyone leaves the parking lots. Our duties include patrolling the lots for suspicious activities such as car break-ins and being aware of dangerous situations. We report these findings to local law enforcement and help control the situation.

ABAC Gives Back - Club

In this club, we go into the Tifton Community and help local businesses and organizations however we can. We have had the pleasure of doing lawn maintenance for older folks, cleaning many public facilities, and helping expand the local recreation center by building a T-ball field. This club brings students into the community and helps bring everyone closer together as a family.

ABAC’s Pre-Vet Club- Club

This club is designed for ABAC students who are interested in going to vet school one day. The activities that this club pursues are volunteering at the local diagnostics lab and local farms that are willing to have students help if needed.

Tifton Veterinary Diagnostics Lab- EIA Presentation

This is a presentation about the dangers of the extremely infectious viral disease, Equine Infectious Anemia (EIAV). During my internship at the diagnostic lab, I had to shadow the different departments within the lab, settling with the serology department. Here I decided to research EIA in equine.
