Tech lead – Teradata DBA and Data/Technical Solutions Architect.
Responsibilities: Responsible for management and the day to day operations of four Teradata / Netvault platforms.
Accomplishments:
In 2005, I entered a Teradata site that was in distress. The whole DBA team quit due to their inability to address the growing demands of the user community. Although the Teradata servers were running most of the time, on frequent basis site was experiencing comas (condition when the server starts thrashing and no longer responds to users). Single-handedly, I took the worst Teradata installation and in nine months turned it around making it the number one Teradata site on the planet. Today GLIC runs more than 250,000 tactical queries per day, having 97.7% of them completing in sub second response. No other Teradata site in the world has ever achieved such a performance matrix in the whole history of Teradata's existence.
In addition, I took a system that had virtually no archival capabilities (they were archiving to disk and then manually copying the archive files to TSM tapes) and built a state of the art Netvault 7.1 archival solution in less than a month, enabling GLIC to archive and restore the whole machine (all databases) in less than two hours.
Moreover, I designed and implemented a series of strategic and tactical processes to enable GLIC to manage the performance of the Teradata systems with virtually no human intervention. Pls. see the attached list.
