Brought on to manage the Newton site for this privately held company offering a full suite of back-office services to help intermodal agents, owner operators, and transportation agents maximize efficiency. Promoted to Regional Operations Manager in 2019 and to Vice President of Operations in 2020. Initially managed operations at the company’s Newton site before taking on the management of six sites as Regional Operations Manager. As VP of Operations, worked in close collaboration with a Director of Operations and three Operations Managers while growing the company from 10 sites and ~200 employees to 40 sites with >600 employees.

Drove change that kept a key account and served as a foundation for further growth in other accounts. Took the company’s Newton site from one key client, Target, from a poor site to one of US1’s top-performing sites in only two months. Later took five sites from poor performers to top performers with less than 2% difference in move times, move accuracy, and the lowest percentage of OT in the nation supporting clients including Home Depot and Tractor Supply Company.

Effectively managed the company through a period of crisis with challenges created by a shortage of drivers and a Covid-19 pandemic that further restricted the available labor force. Developed and implemented innovative incentives to sustain and grow the workforce. Brought order to chaos while taking the company back to profitability. Established and implemented standard operating procedures across all sites while instilling a culture of accountability and safety across operations that significantly lowered both workers’ comp and unemployment claims (see intro).

TRANSPORTATION MANAGER

Recruited to drive continuing improvement in the transportation operations of this this privately held American wholesale grocery distribution firm. Directed an operations department with 70 drivers, five mechanics, and three yard jockeys, as well as clerical workers and dispatchers working three shifts. Ensured the proper routing and delivery of product to >1,000 customers while optimizing safety and serving as a first responder for all customer service issues.

Responsibly managed all aspects of the Transportation Department for two warehouses including but not limited to Maintenance Department, Safety Department, and Dispatch Office.

Promoted a culture of accountability and safety. Created and wrote policies and procedures as well as the current Safety Bonus Program.

Substantially lowered operating costs. Recreated daily routing to reflect additional as well as loss of customers keeping mileage increases to a minimum. Cut man-hours as well as payroll by implementing new cost saving measures.

EARLY EXPERIENCE:
