Work Experience

Receiving Associate/Cashier

Burlington Industries - Reno, NV

December 2021 to December 2022

I had also been a cashier at Burlington Stores, Store #314 for around nine months prior as well. I am a former lead so I know all the functions of the cashier position. I had been working as a CSS, and greeting customers at the door. I was only supposed to be a temporary fill for this position but they could not move me to the receiving department, for ten months. I am a general laborer so this was very hard to just stand still. I have been told that I always keep my area which is the front nice and clean by both my co-workers and customers though. I am better at cleaning since my small stroke and tried my best at moving fast on the line. Then after sorting and unboxing the product, we processed the freight, by using regular line strategies. Then we sorted, tagged, sized, and censored the merchandise. After that, we would run the merch where they display and stock the shelves usually according to the corporate guide released every other week. I am good at having the shelf straightened before putting new merchandise out. I am familiar with markdowns, and I display the new merchandise according to guided corporate guidelines, when possible, or available. I straighten and keep my area and department clean. I try to stick to this despite a changed procedure, brought by the new manager. This included a new way of how they put out the merchandise, I tried my hardest to become familiar with and be faster with the new process. Even though it wasn't how I had been trained, I still tried as much as possible. I will admit that I had a hard time as I did not see it to be faster. I apologize that I thought that the old way was more efficient and worked better. I was let go shortly thereafter. Education

Certifications and Licenses

General Laborer/Trained Operator

September 1997 to December 2012

My trained operator's license also includes the maintenance training of the machine. So I would train associates on the maintenance of the machine in a class as they were trained at the job site. Issued by United Rentals this certification expired in 2012. There had to have been many changes since this time so I will probably need to recertify my OSHA ten, flaggers license, and renew my Operators Permit. I can frame, tape, texture, snap lines, the layout of lumber for footings, retaining walls, and most truss work, I can perform. All procedures for painting, triming and drywall hanging as well. I know how to tie rebar and teach this also. It has been some time since I have done this or landscaping which I do normally. I am also a Stone Mason's apprentice and can survaye. It is my responsibility to keep track of the package once delivered. Being a materials handler it was also my duty to roll or unroll hoses, along with all cleaning and storage of all tools. Store and organize all tools when not in use. I was also in charge of cleaning, prepping, laying out lumber accordingly, and keeping the job site, clean, stocked, and secured daily. I also had to read plans and make sure we did not violate any OSHA procedures. Along with the maintenance, care, and proper storage of these machine's used or rented during the duration of the bid.

Groups

Volunteers of America

June 2015 to Present

I have respect for this group as it helped me to get permanent housing I have transferred to RHA and they are helping me to subsidize my rent. They are my life savers no doubt. Any of these groups like RSGM, Catholic Charities, St. Vincent's Charities, Restart, VOA, Stones Church, Prayer House (safe house for women/victim's of domestic violence) Goodwill Industries, RTC, Washoe County, Washoe County Libraries and many other volunteers, helped me when I was a victim of domestic violence as well. Thank you for all of these and many other resources I rely on each day. I hope to be able to someday have employment substantial enough for me to be able to phase out, that way someone else may receive the wonderful help from this. That is my goal anyways. I feel a compelling need to do something for these organizations, I have some ideas for the development and writing of a grant as well as some reface construction projects I have been working on for these companies and would hope you would inquire about this with me if you would like or am interested in. I could use some assistance with the launching of this very much so in the development stages. I would like to see it through if possible though.
