Traffic (Shipping and Receiving) Administrator

Began as Military Spec. Small Packaging Room (2 years); promoted into the Packaging Dept. (Large Parts) (2 years). This included consolidation, packaging and crating. An additional six months were spent unitizing and palletizing for rail or truck shipments of Large Parts. Production Control followed which included manufacturing instructions and expediting received orders (2 years). The next 5 years were spent as a Traffic Administrator. Analyzed carrier and shipper proposals and rating by regulatory bodies to determine compliance with policies and recommended a course of action. Developed clearance routes with transportation representatives for over-dimensional and overweight shipments. Requested special permits from state, federal and municipal regulation authorities. Determined the type of carrier, routing and classifications for all domestic and international shipments. Responsible for interpretation and implementation of proper military, domestic and international regulations governing the transportation of oversized and hazardous materials. Instructed classes on handling and labeling hazardous materials for shipment. Responsible for expediting, tracking, cost analysis of all in and outbound domestic and international shipments.
