Quick and informative support for operational problems in the field. organization also charged with developing the chemistry of the products used in our systems. As part of that role, I am co-chair of the Egyptian Petroleum Research institute (EPRI). Here we drive our suppliers to come develop chemistry to solve operational problems we have in to the production locations.

The role also involves the coordination of medium sized technical teams in both lab and asset roles to bring new chemical and material options to processes with the aim of improving performance or lowering costs, preferably both.

LAB Chemist

BAPETCO/ShellJV///Egyptian Western Desert//2000–2018 Laboratory skills & LAB. Supervisory Skills:

Analytical and application chemistry support to all Bapetco activities in the Western Desert (production, water injection, drilling/workover, exploration). Following the agreed procedures and design engineering practices I supported field activities and ensured guidance was given to meet our contractually agreed specifications before export. Examples of specific tasks routinely carried out would include; waste water sampling & analysis, flue gas sampling & analysis, gaseous emissions, environmental related analysis (Co, Co2, H2S, oil in water), moisture in instrument air, lube oil analysis, chemical water analysis, pH, Fe, Cl, bacteria & biocide treatment, monitoring of chemical injection at different locations & optimization of injection rates, monitoring of internal corrosion by coupon weight loss method. A key component of the role was giving the field operations team guidance through analytical chemistry support. I am fully trained to carry out a full suite of analysis on natural gas, condensate, and crude oil, following standard operating procedures, normally based on ASTM standards. Where further method development has been required, I have been able to develop new processes and document them as part of the agreed standard operating procedures after sign off from a suitable technical authority. I am also highly experienced in samples collection, both standard and non-routine. In both cases the safety of the operation is absolutely critical, and I am fully trained in the relevant procedures and always seek approval from the operations team. As I leader in the laboratory I was in control of MSDS management alongside ensuring the instructions were closely followed as part of out storage and chemical handling plan. All lab chemical alongside the samples taken were included in this plan. My lab role included management of the analysis instruments and equipment to ensure they were fit for purpose and well maintained to ensure accurate analysis result at all times. I have a detailed knowledge of natural gas and crude oil plant laboratory equipment, instruments and accessories including their installation, testing, calibration, operation. This includes gas chromatographs, spectroscopy, pH meters, conductivity/ TDS meters, viscometers.

Keeping good records of the results so they are available to the wider team is a key part of running a laboratory. As part of that role I have detailed knowledge of Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), its implementation, information workflow & data Management, maintain inventory of chemicals & apparatus, reporting & related documentation. Installation, Commissioning& Start-up:

Knowledge and experience of installation, pre-Commissioning, testing & commissioning, initial start-up & ramp up activities and requirements for laboratory equipment and terminology, especially, centrifuge, viscometer, chemical balance scales, spectrophotometer, gas chromatograph, colorimeter, water dew point meter (Shaw), and other equipment. Working at BP as a site chemist (part time).
