Deputy nurse in charge: Medical department/ comprehensive care unit. Busy medical ward/Isolation with TB and HIV/Aids unit. I did the following roles; Ensureing that all admitted patient were well screened for Tuberculosis, HIV/Aids, COVID 19, and major non communicable diseases.
ensuring even duty allocation of junior staffs, student nurses, per shift supervising major procedures like chest drainage insertion, individualized TB drug per patient and follow up care for HIV/Aids on Art regimes. Optimizing all COVID positive and symptomanics patients by use of ventilators, suckers medicine reducing the mortality rate by almost 60%. ensuring proper training of staffs, use of PPE's, setting stardard operating procedures in order to reduce mode of COVID transmission amongest ourself and other patients. Administering of medicine and starting of infusions in newly admitted patients during my shift.

Able to set out instruments and equipments ready for surgery. I made sure the OR department has ready stocks of pharmacological and non pharmacological items in advance.
I would ensure the room is set and working out with surgeons during surgery and moving with the patient to the recovery room.
Ensured instrument count is done before and confirmed after the surgery. Assisted surgeons in scrubbing for various surgeries that requires multitasking. Ensured theatre room, instrument are clean, tidy and functional always Ensured patient documents are propery and accurately recorded and biopsies well preserved.
As part of on-job training, I would set up, test and calibrate psychological monitors,anesthesia machine and airway devices before operations. I would also perform equipment checks and maintain records of problems and services dates.
I would also ensure strict infection controls in all anesthetic equipment by proper sterilizations.
I would also assist in positioning of patient prior to the procedure based on the type of surgery.
I would also place monitors for ECG, cuffs for non invasive bloop pressure machine, Arterial catheters for invasive bp and Arterial blood gases before surgery. Assisted in transportation of patient from theatre table either to PACU, HDU or ICU THIKA LEVEL FIVE HOSPITAL
