**/**** *o Present ; 40 hours per Week; MARINE MACHINERY MECHANIC; WG-5334-10; last promoted Not Specified, permanent employee; not on a temporary promotion; Norfolk Naval Shipyard, 37 Effingham St Portsmouth Va; Eddie Utterback 757- 396-2471 ; may contact supervisor.

I am experienced in the installation and repair of complex marine equipment and machinery such as steering assemblies, main shafting, power drives, main propulsion reduction gears, lubricating and control systems. I can independently dismantle, move, and relocate various types of submarine and shipboard machinery such as turbines, generators, diesel engines, and their accessories or install new machinery. I have experience reassembling and installing marine equipment and machinery, connecting power sources, performing operational and functional tests, and making the required adjustment in order to ensure proper operational of the entire system.

I have experience in planning, set up, and perform complex modifications to marine machinery and equipment requiring changes in the lay-out, assembly, adjustment, and test of component parts to meet desired specifications. I have extensive experience with removing, installing, overhauling, repa'ring, testing, and maintaining ship systems such as steam turbines, gas turbines, diesel engines, main condensers, compressors, pumps, force draft blowers, and main feed pumps. I also have removed, installed, overhauled, repaired, tested, and maintained reduction gears, bearings, shafting and propellers(fixed and variable pitch), various types of valves, such as sea water, freshwater, fuel oil, lube oil, steam, hydraulic and air. I have, when necessary, developed adaptable parts to maintain or improve the efficiency of marine machinery when manufacturer's specified parts are unavailable.

I have installed and repaired such equipments as cargo-handling machinery, anchor handling gear, boat davits, cranes, elevators, conveyors, fire fighting equipment, and machinery for ships machine shops. As nuclear mechanic I am well acclimated to following written instruction, technical work documents, manufacturers' specifications, blue prints, and even rough sketches, and with my years of work on naval vessels(submarines and surface ships) I am able to work within acceptable and appropriate oral instructions as well. I have also adapted such drawings, instructions, blue prints, sketches, and technical orders to meet special-use or limited parts availability needs, or equipment modifications. I have extensive experience in working with, instructing, and aiding others in the interpretation and use of marine mechanic technical materials. I have planned and aid-out work using blueprints, sketches, work orders, and other specifications. Using the instructions mentioned I diagnose, plan, and complete projects or work orders involving major systems in their entirety aboard naval vessels. I have also advised co-workers in locating and correcting hardto- find malfunctions.

I can successfully interpret and apply requirements contained in technical manuals, shop directives, multi view blueprints, and other documents when planning and laying out for the repair and installation of marine machinery and equipment. I can trace and isolate malfunctions in marine machinery, equipment, and systems that have been extensively modified or are obsolete and few or no guidelines are available. I am also capable of correcting malfunctions in marine machinery using various measuring devices and test equipment such as alignment scopes, venires, micrometers, transits, strobe tachometers, hydrostatic testers, and vibration analyzers. To make remove, install, overhaul, repair, test and maintain equipments and components aboard naval vessels I use various portable machine tools, such as boring bars, portable willing machines, facing machines and drill presses. I can also examine and locate the cause of operational failures in marine machinery, equipment, and systems such as shafts, propellers, and steering assemblies, to determine the extent of repairs required. As often needed I am ab!e to determine materials or [arts needed, and estimate time required to complete repairs. I can detect and diagnose malfunctions in marine equipment and machinery such as cargo handling machinery, fire fighting equipment, evaporators, and anchor handling gear. I have extensive experience on naval vessels such as surfaces crafts and submarines and have worked in nuclear as well as non-nuclear and have also worked many years in refueling. 06/1996 to 10/1999; 60 hours per Week; Commercial Driver; $50,000 per Annum; last promoted Not Specified; permanent employee; not on a temporary promotion; MG Industry, Fred Saunders ; may contact supervisor.
