Assisted in the commissioning and start-up of the new Nylon Plant joint venture of KSA and CPCHEM. Responsibilities included the training and guiding of inexperienced multi-national operation personnel in the safe operation of the plant. Led the operation and contractor teams in the commissioning of the utilities section of the plant as well as assisting in other process sections. This included air blowing and hydrotesting of lines and equipment and leading Pre-Start-Up Safety Reviews.
Once the plant was commissioned and started up safely my role changed to SME in the quality control Lab to assist in preparing it for normal operation.

As SME I interfaced with project contractors and refinery environmental operations personnel in properly disposing of waste materials generated on the project. A large part of my responsibility in this role was answering all aspects of environmental questions dealing with the Base Oil Project but eventually encompassed all major projects at the refinery. This included properly setting up the disposal of both hazardous and non-hazardous materials, the writing of disposal permits and the following up of all disposable materials from cradle to the grave.

My role was to train and instill a safety/environmental culture in a crew of 20 contractors working for Lawshee Construction Company an embedded contractor group at UOP/Honeywell Plant in Chickasaw AL. This position included the tracking and reporting of all safety and environmental statistics to OSHA each year.

In this assignment I was the Environmental/Safety Coordinator on a Major Capital Project at the UOP/Honeywell Plant in Chickasaw AL. Work included interacting with more than 10 contractor groups who had their own Safety Depts but took direction on the project from my position. During this time, I was solicited by UOP/Honeywell for input on their corporate Safety Program and to roll it out to all contractor groups on the project prior to their working on the project.
