Daily Duties and Responsibilities:
Management
Attend morning nursing shift report
Contribute to patient care especially admission and critically ill patients
Audit unit clinical indicators, ex. Documentations, VAP, CAUTI, CLABSI, restraints.
Provide mentorship of nurses, ward clerks and other colleagues
Attend medical round and encourage nurses to present their patients
Maintain unit equipments and supplies
Data collection including CVC, VAP bundles, readmissions, procedures, mortality and morbidity, hand hygiene.
Work together with the staff to improve the NDNQI and hand hygiene
Insulin protocol for all ICU patients
VAP for pediatric patients
Sedation addiction and withdrawals symptoms
Covering for the acting Head Nurse duties
Staffing, Scheduling, and arrange staff leaves and assure proper unit staffing.
Monitor the daily assignment and assure proper unit staffing
Clinical
Care of Ventilated patients including the use of high frequency oscillator Ventilation and Nitric oxide therapy.
Care of patients on CRRT.
Assisting procedures CVC, Arterial line, chest tube & pigtail insertion, PD catheter, Quinton catheter, percutaneous tracheotomy insertion, chest open, chest closure, swan Ganz insertion, IABP insertion.
Managing pediatric and adult post cardiac surgery.
Managing post heart and lung transplant and ventricular assist device.
Managing adult and pediatric patients with ECMO (extra corporeal membrane oxygenator).
Care of chest drain, tracheotomy.
