● Served as the Acting Executive Director for American Samoa Community Health Center

(ASCHC) Program in American Samoa. The Community Spread of COVID-19 virus started on February 23rd 2022, and the ASCHC played a critical role in the mitigation and containment effort during this time.

List of Duties

● Assisted in overseeing the Maternal Child Health School-based dental Program in American Samoa 2004-2009.

● Assist in overseeing the Community Health Center (CHC) Dental services Program in American Samoa 2009-today.

● Work directly with other Department of Health’s programs such as participating in the Lymphatic Filariasis multi-drug administration (MDA) rounds in 2004-2007.

● Assist the CHC leaders in grant application renewal & annual report

● Part of the Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) pillars group that formulated the island territory’s NCDs Strategic plan initiatives with a collaboration with the independent state of Samoa, in the effort to mitigate Obesity and obesity-related NCDs such as Type 2 diabetes mellitus, High Blood pressure, Stroke and Cancer.

● Adjunct Instructor at the local American Samoa Community College (ASCC) teaching Health Science, Public health, and Dental health subjects.

● Collaboration with off-island partners in providing workforce development in the department. These partners include the Pacific Basin Dental Association, the Association of States and Territorial Dental Directors (ASTDDs), Pacific Island Health Officers Association (PIHOA), and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta.

● Provide ongoing staff development training during the CHC staff continuous medical and dental education (CMEs).

● Member of the (1) Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement (QIQA) committee; (2) Credentialing committee; Continuous Medical Education (CME) committee; and (4) Peer review committee at the CHC, and ASDOH.

● March 13-17, 2006, attended Workshop on “Introduction to Dental Research Methods” introduction to the SPSS data system sponsored by the International Association of Dental Research (IADR) ANZ division by Professor Murray Thomson, Otago University, New Zealand. Fiji School of Medicine Campus in Suva, Fiji.

● September 18–22, 2006, attended Workshop “Getting your Findings out there” as a follow up from the previous one also done by Professor Murray Thomson. Otago University, held at the Fiji School of Medicine Campus in Suva, Fiji

● September 23–26, 2007 attended 47th annual meeting of IADR ANZ division at the Barossa Valley, Adelaide, South Australia. Poster presentation of “One Year Evaluation of Fissure Sealant Retention in 6-7 years olds in American Samoa, 2005”

● March 3–6 2010, attended the American and Canadian Association of Dental Research, AADR/CADR in Washington D.C

● November 27–December 2nd, 2010, Attended the Greater New York Dental Meeting in Manhattan, New York, NY.

● February 21–28, 2014. Attended HIV/AIDS Mini-Residency Training at Hawaii AIDS Education and Training Centre. The Hawaii Consortium for Continuing Medical Education and John Burns School of Medicine, University of Hawaii.

● February 27th–March 03rd, 2019. Attended the Pacific Basin Dental Association

● Father to three children 22 year old daughter and two sons 21, and 17 years respectively

● Currently married to my beautiful wife of 23 years, living with six dogs (love my pets) in American Samoa and willing to move to any station where new opportunities are available.
