OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY
Transports neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients, equipment, and specimens throughout hospital. Performs housekeeping duties within assigned work areas.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Introduces self to patient and checks armband to confirm identity. Ensures patient is properly covered before transporting.
Disconnects patient from bedsit equipment.
Monitors, oxygen, etc. and reconnects to portable
Consults with patient's nurse or other appropriate personnel to obtain information about patient's status and inform about patient's destination.
Transports patient using wheelchair, stretcher, or other devices.
Provides for general comfort of patients of all ages while waiting for treatment.
Assists in lifting and positioning patients. May be required to restrain patients during treatment to prevent their injury.
Transports equipment, specimens, blood, etc. throughout hospital as required.
Maintains equipment by identifying needed repairs and disinfecting between uses.
Restocks assigned area with supplies as required.
