June 2016 - Present MCCS Single Marine Program – Recreation Center Manager, NF-3 I incorporated creativity to plan, promote a well-rounded recreation programs and events utilizing numerous facilities with the entire MCCS Divisions as well as off base organizations. I ensured all programs and events are following program policies, regulations, and procedures. I evaluate and review ongoing programs to recommend changes or enhancements that may develop, adapt, modify, expand or otherwise change the program activities/events to better meet and enhance the expected effectiveness of the Single Marine Program mission. I utilized judgment in adapting guidelines for specific situations, methods and processes that may deviate from guidelines. I regularly analyzed projected programs, considering our operating budget, staffing requirements, plans, trends, command mission/availability as well as the changing population. I lead day-to-day operation of multiple programs to which I assigned staff. I have made recommendations on corrective action to take when planning or implementing changes to the programs.
I performed managerial duties to include creating schedules, assigning and distributing work, defining priorities, conducted interviews and rated the outcome, conducted performance evaluations, disciplinary actions as warranted, coaching and counseling, approving/disapproving leave request, performed change fund cash audits, approved time and correcting any exceptions that showed up in PeopleSoft, made sure that if staff worked at another recreation center the correct payroll number was indicated on PeopleSoft and ensuring staff is up to date in their annual training. I supervised directly ten to six full, part time and flexible NF 02 employees. I’m very knowledgeable in the Inspector General Checklist of the Single Marine Program, Recreation Programs APF and NAF planning, budgeting and programming, UFM and OSD funding, Semper Fit Recreational programs Marine Family Team Building and the operations that drive these programs. I’m proficient in collecting data when analyzing the outcome of certain programs and events that are using certain budgets and accounts. I am responsible for development, management and execution of the annual budget. I monitored monthly budgets for accounts in Entertainment $9,240, Supplies $ 250, Repair and Maintenance $150, Rental $105, Printing & Reproduction between $454 - $ 567 and kept a detailed report of Commercial Sponsorship money to maximize the use of Appropriated Funding to support recreation programming and community services, and to enhance the quality of life for our single service members. Prepared and conducted briefs, orientations and large scale presentations concerning the various aspects of the program to commands, visitors, newly arrived service members, base organizations, local community businesses, senior organizational leaders and Senior Base Commanders aboard the Camp Lejeune Installation and Marine Corps Installation East.
I brief our director on the status of our programs and all professional or administrative issues that would arise. During are SMP meetings I would brief the Co and the Sgt.Maj. on the events we held and how well it went as well as brief them on the upcoming trips and volunteer opportunity we had available. I held student brief every week in which I spoke to 80-100 student on our program and other services they can utilizes on base. I would hand out our calendars and any flyers we had for trips. Being a manger with the Single Marine program I do a lot of planning as well as research events for the students/junior Marines. I do briefs with the Marines that took part in our events and I asked them the kind of tournament’s they would like as well as big events such as my End of Summer Bash, volunteer events and what trips they would like. I would also get feedback from the 1stSgts and Sgt.Maj. I would tailor events towards their age group as well as their interests. After our trips the Marines would fill out a survey then I would talk to them as a group and find out how we can improve with that particular trip, event or volunteer event. Then I would open the floor and discuss what future events they would like to do. Additionally, I had Marines that returned and attended follow-on events. May 2016 - June 2017 MCCS Single Marine Program - Trip Programmer/Volunteer Coordinator NF-2
I planned and organized trips for various Units aboard Camp Lejeune-New River and for our Single Marines, Sailors and Geo Bachelors. I would receive volunteer events from out in town and I would place them on our calendar of events and I would process there Letter of Appreciation. I would verify the volunteers on the roster place the events and name. Rank, DOD number and unit into our system to track their volunteer hours. I would go to all seven of our Council meetings to promote and engaged interest in the volunteer events that we have on base as well as off base. I would set up transportation for all of our recreation centers and communicate with the commands for arrival times and departure times.
I created flyers for unit trips and for the Single Marine Program trips that outlined all the information on the trips as well as our refund policies. I would create all expenditures on our Trips Budget worksheet that would detail any per diem that was necessary if trips were over 12 hours. The Marines who went on the trips would fill out a survey sheet. What they liked and didn’t like and what we can approve on our next trip. I would indicate which form of transportation would be utilized for instance our vans or coach bus, prices for tickets, hotel Page 3 of 9
rooms and how many patrons were going on these trips. I ensured all trips were following program policies, regulations, and procedures. I would evaluate and review ongoing programs to recommend changes or enhancements that may develop, adapt, modify, expand or otherwise change the trips to better meet and enhance the expected effectiveness of the Single Marine Program mission. I would be asked my other events sponsored by organizations on base to set-up a table with information about our program and speak to our military service members as well as Senior Leaders.
I was responsible for making sure all information was gathered and correct when staff signed up our patrons for any trip and made phone calls to each patron when we had any changes to pick-up locations or when trips were canceled. I contacted hotels to make accommodations for our group, communicated with parks, museums and other venues. Made sure all aspects of our contracts indicated all of our needs as well as what I have discussed with sales managers, and other personnel, due dates for all deposits were accurate and paid with the time frame allocated, made sure all names were indicated on any rooming lists or other reports. I developed working partnerships with both on base and off base organizations. I developed contacts and created professional proposals, execution of agreements and follow-ups with businesses and organizations. Assumed the responsibility for planning, coordinating, publicizing volunteer events and sharing that with Single Marine Program Officers, Recreation Center Managers, Recreation Staff and Operation Noble Heart. As the Volunteer Coordinator when off base organization would contact me about how to post their event through us I would send out the Organization Partnership Form, Volunteer Request Form and our Volunteer Sign in Roster. I would then input the Volunteer Request Form in our data base that would generate the Volunteer Opportunities List that I send out to all 7 Recreation Centers Single Marine Officers, Recreation Center Managers, Staff and Operation Noble Heart. I would also post their volunteer event on Trumba (web-based software) calendar where volunteers can sign up for that event as well view other volunteer opportunities and events associated with all Recreation Centers. When I received the Sign in roster, I would input that data in our Volunteer Tracking system that tracked their accumulated hours. I would process their Letters of Appreciations from our spreadsheet and email them in the allotted timeframe.
June 2015 - May 2016 MCCS Single Marine Program - Recreation Assistant NF-2 Prepared, managed and processed daily report of sales, cash reconciliation. I possess an in-depth knowledge of financial statements, analysis and cash management. Completed request proposals for facility maintenance work. I enrolled children and families in the CDC, SAC, and FCC homes in the USDA/CACFP. I prepared and submitted monthly claims for reimbursement to the program coordinator in a timely manner. Participated in implementing training for FCC providers required participating in the USDA/CACFP. When I went to do unannounced inspections, I would verify that attendance records were checked off and updated according to the meal I was inspecting, made sure the meal met the Child and Adult Family Program meal pattern requirements, also the caregivers were providing family-style meal service: placing enough food on the table for each child to have the minimum portions of each required component and the children were serving themselves. I obtained the required paperwork for each newly enrolled participated and filled in all the information on Rec Track according to the Child Youth and Teen policies. I also inspected records on any participants that had medical restrictions and food allergies received he appropriate meal and the proper documentation supported those findings by a doctor. I recorded numbers of meals served to staff, updated the master enrollment list for children in the four facilities I was assigned, saved the Master Enrollment List for each month on a separate file, consolidated attendance records to determine total attendance, consolidated meal counts to determine to total number of breakfasts, lunches and snacks were served.
