Recovery Coach Specialist

Certified by CCAR, but work for myself - New London, CT

March 2018 to Present

I have been volunteering at the hospital as Recovery Intervention Specialist; I do not get paid but it’s basically like an internship is how I see it, because this is a way of gaining experience so that I may get the knowledge in helping people and how to go about case managing and connecting people with the right resources. I have developed many contacts for sober living, medical attention, MAT, all different impatient and outpatient programs thru out the state; as well as some out of state. My job was/is basically volunteer my services once a patient comes in on an overdose, or it's discovered the person is an addict; abusing medications. All I can do is offer my services, and if they're interested and they’re at that point where they’re ready themselves (not because family/loved ones are forcing it) I can help them get to where they need to be and then, they have to take it from there. It's their lives, and they must do the work because THEY want to. They must do the work on themselves, I'm just here as a support. And my phone is always on; I'll always answer for any single one of them any hour of the day/night.
