Veterans Hospital Dayton (Ohio) (2008 to present)

Process admissions, discharges, transfers, and movement of patients within the Dayton VA hospital, other VA hospitals and external facilities. I communicate extensively with the public, particularly with family members of patients and personnel at other hospitals and medical entities or facilities. I utilize extensive knowledge of VA regulations and operational procedures or protocols in the daily performance of my job. I coordinate with various other departments and personnel internally and externally to ensure effective and efficient functioning of various administrative tasks and other services that ultimately impact our service to our patients. For example, I routinely communicate with other departments such as Food Service to ensure that new patients dietary orders are input and service is provided to those patients who may have been admitted to the hospital after the cut-off time for a specific meal. In addition, I coordinate tasks with other departments such as Travel, Escort, Patient Affairs, Prime Care, the Blood Bank, Radiology, Environmental Management Service (EMS) and various other departments to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of my assigned floors for each day. I work on a daily basis in VISTA, CPRs, the VA website, Outlook, and the inter-net. Also, have completed training courses in Power Point, Excel, Access, Spreadsheets and Word and can use other programs as needed.

Defense Supply Center Columbus (DSCC) Columbus (Ohio) (2002-2004)

Responsible for administration of federal government contracts for the US Army and US Marine Corps. In the Land Based Acquisition Department (LX) I negotiated price, quantity, delivery, and quality requirements with contractors and vendors conducting business with the federal government. Extensive training in and knowledge/application of rules contained within the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FARS) and the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations (DFARS). Completed Contract Apprenticeship education courses for certification as Contract Administrator. Coordinated activities with other federal entities as well as contractors and vendors to ensure the best price and quality of any equipment, material or supplies used by land based military forces.

Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) Kettering (Ohio) (1996-2002)

Managed accounts for 15 military installations in eastern geographic area of the United States. This included daily, weekly, monthly and end of year financial statements (DDFs 2657s) prior to completion of fiscal yearend financial close-out reports. I also audited vouchers, (both payables and receivables) contracts and an assortment of other documents for accuracy and clarity prior to the disbursement of funds. Familiar with all government forms and operational procedures for disbursement of public funds as well as the Cash Link system which allowed me to transfer government funds electronically from Federal Reserve Banks to the accounts of various contractors and payees to pay for services or products provided to the United States Air Force. Very knowledgeable with all aspects of federal government accounting systems and procedures.

United States Army (1987-1996)

Managed/supervised all operational aspects of dining facilities (DFACs) responsible for preparing and providing meals three times per day for company level (300+) personnel to the battalion level (700+) personnel. I essentially ordered and was responsible for maintaining inventories of all cleaning supplies, and equipment for these various units. Also, responsible for ensuring availability of clean water, sanitary conditions, and environmentally safe conditions for military and civilian personnel in war zones. Acquired extensive knowledge of the supply and logistical regulations, rules, and operational procedures as they pertained to each branch of the military and ensured the proper and ethical integration of these regulations to accomplish military operational goals. Trained extensively in how to maintain foods, safety and sanitation within an institutional food service personnel to function efficiently in food service operations and functions and food preparation (according to US Army standards and recipe cards), proper storage of prepared foods, equipment cleaning and maintenance, portion control (according to US Army standards) and procedures when handling Potentially Hazardous Foods (PHFs).

United States Air Force (1977-1987)

Completed training course for Finance and Accounting Specialist. Worked within the Comptroller Division as military pay clerk, travel pay clerk, paying and collecting, accounts control and assistant to the Chief of Quality Assurance and Compliance. Completed additional training and attained a higher skill level prior to being promoted to manager/supervisor of both military pay and travel pay departments. Performed extensive customer service tasks as well as briefings to higher command regarding a variety of operational issues and conducted a variety of other briefings such as travel pay and military pay informational seminars for new military and civilian personnel. Also, developed and conducted Personal Financial Management Program (PFMP) which entailed assisting personnel in budgeting, providing insurance and investment information and specific financial counseling on an individual basis. Routinely worked with a variety of computer systems and programs including Power Point, Excel, Access and various Microsoft applications and other programs.
