Resume:

Andrew Maynard ************@*****.*** • *** S. Taylor St• 919-***-****

Cell: 919-***-****

Objectives

To gain employment in a lawyer’s office

Education

West Forsyth High School, ’96, Elon College, 2000,

Wayne Comm. College, ongoing

I was at Elon College for one year, because of the issue I had. I had that issue in Dec. of 2000. That issue caused me to stop my collegiate education, it hasn’t stopped me from learning how to process the information I’m currently learning at Wayne Tech.

Experience

Raven Knob Boy Scout Camp, Mount Airy, NC ’98, ‘99

Forgot the address

Same dates both years Start date-6/20 end date-8/15

’98 Counselor, getting scouts to open up n’ tell me their issues. There were simple problems, like a fellow scout didn’t like how he was being treated by other scouts. There were more serious problems, such as a staff member and a scout having problems. I would bring each one into my office separately, to give them each an opportunity to voice their opinions. I gave them some possible solutions to the problem, it was up to them after that. ’99 Archery Instructor, teaching scouts how to use a bow n’ arrow safely. I had 20 in each of the 4 groups. There were four groups every day of the camp. I taught everyone, since they all didn’t have any previous experience in archery. There was an open field so the arrows wouldn’t go where they didn’t want them to go. The few times they DID go where they didn’t want them to go, I was able to tell that person what he did wrong, n’ I showed him how to direct it to the target.

Forgot the name n’ address n’ start-end dates of the stable I worked for in Winston-S

Spring Bank Stables, Goldsboro, NC ‘02-09 Stablehand

VOLUNTEER:

Wayne Co Animal Shelter ‘13-17 (checking the animals to see if they needed attention, if they did, I would take care of it myself, because I could do it myself almost all the time. When I DID need help, I asked some of the workers n’ they would help with whatever I needed help with.

Wayne Co Library ’13-‘21 (I keep the books in order by their number-letter on the spine of each book, I also clean the books with a dry rag, to not damage the book)

Injoy-14-17 (Christian thrift store) (I’m in a separate room in the back of the building, cleaning what needs to be cleaned. (hard-backed books, soft-covered books, CD covers, porcelain vases, furniture (tables, lamps, seats, chairs..)

13-18 Wages (Wayne Area Group for Exceptional Students), Goldsboro, NC Teacher Assistant. A school for young kids (2-7) I teach the kids how to separate different objects and beginning counting. Like the numbers 1 thru 10 and how to separate a knife and a book. Simple stuff, but they’re learning. The older kids get the same education as the young kids because there’s only one teacher teaching the entire class.

13-20 Animal Shelter I groom the animals that are taken to me. Groom-brush fur. I do a little more than just groom. I also check the areas that need the grooming, like if the front or back legs need more attention, I’ll be sure to focus on that. The only area I won’t is the butt area.

13-20 Wayne County Library- I clean books in the children’s section there by just dusting off the covers. Some books have as little as 10 pages, while others will have as many as 16-30 pages.

14-20 InJoy Thrift Shop- General Cleaner- I’m in a separate room cleaning various items. I mainly clean shoes, but I can clean anything they put in front of me, from toys n’ games to lamps n’ furniture.

Typing – 3 wpm Have low wpm because I never thought of typing as my job, I thought counseling was my job because I knew so much about it. I did type in two of my volunteer experiences, n’ that was when I was the year before I graduated. (’99)

Have 5 years experience counseling. Three years, Raven Knob Boy Scout Camp, Mount Airy, NC, and 2 years experience at a legal office in Burlington NC, and 3 years in Goldsboro NC, forgot the names of the offices

2000, Raven Knob Boy Scout Camp

I was teaching 15 scouts in a class, n’ there were 4 classes, so I was teaching 60 scouts a day. There was a morning and an afternoon session. I was teaching them how to hold the bow, so it wouldn’t shake n’ cause the arrow to go outside the area designated for shooting arrows. When it did go outside that area, I told them how to “fix” their problem, by showing where their arm should be, so next time it wouldn’t go outside the designated area.

2001, Raven Knob…

I was a counselor, to both the campers and staff. I was a counselor to staff if they had a problem with one of the campers. Most of the time, it was simple. A staff member had an issue with a camper, or the other way around. Sometimes, the issues were more difficult, like a staff member had a specific issue that needed to be taken care of ASAP. In those cases, they gave me more information so I could understand more clearly what their problem was. When I was listening to a camper, I treated him the same way I would a staff, with my full attention being on him. He would tell me his issues, which are sometimes the same as a staff member’s concerns. I’ve had many cases where the staff and camper had two different ideas, I had to decide which was more important, the staff or the camper. The camper won every time, because he was the one learning. I told the camper to go to my office, which was a brick building, n’ said we needed to talk.

My WPM count is so low because I really didn’t think it would be a concern, because I can type, I never really considered speed a factor, because when I was a Receptionist for Raven Knob, there were people coming in, it was so slow, I had plenty of time to do other things. Now that I type more often, I’m speeding up.
