Duties Include, providing training to new and existing staff and Physicians. Assisting the Director of Information Technology with needed tasks; much involving around Meaningful Use requirements for the hospital and the Physicians centers. This assures that each department is clinically documenting properly to verify data collection is accurate. Respond to clinical needs to assist staff with CPSI EHR issues through the help desk. When necessary, works with CPSI to obtain support on complex EHR issues. Reviewing of CPSI updates prior to installing and providing education to staff before the install(s). Respond to help desk calls supporting clinical users. Serving on standing/project committees (ie. 340b, ACO, Epiphany, Antibiotic Stewardship, Outpatient & Stroke). Maintaining EHR nursing/physician order sets and instructions. Have accepted the role as the hospital contact with patients needing assistance with the EHR online patient portal (Mycarecorner).
Accepted the role of Emergency Preparedness Coordinator of Threat Preparedness (PMH). Responsibilities include, policies, staff training, designing and completing drills, inventory of equipment/supplies, maintain communication equipment and attending county, regional and state meetings. Currently am working closely with the Director who is planning to retire over the next few months, I have been asked to replace him with all above responsibilities including the departmental budget.
Information System Manager - June 2009 – September 2017
Highlands Hospital, 401 East Murphy Ave., Connellsville, PA 15425
Duties included, Supervision of staff (4), setting direction for I.S. services, purchasing of equipment, maintaining servers, data storage, active directory, firewalls, network equipment and backups. In charge of video surveillance, radio communication, security doors and the telephone systems. Served as the staff help desk for every aspect of the information systems including training for all aspects of CPSI in the hospital and clinical settings. I served as the liaison between the hospital and CPSI staff while maintaining all problem situations while reviewing system changes and implemented software updates routinely as necessary. Responsible for contacts for equipment maintenance, the purchase of all hardware/software and peripherals for the hospital and outside agencies. Maintained on call help desk situations to resolve issues as quickly as possible.
Served as CPOE chair and led the charge (team approach) to complete and maintain statistics for meaningful use for stages 1 & 2. Due to these efforts the hospital received $ 1.6 million from CMS through the Medicaid/Medicare programs.
Responsible for the setup of all new staff & Physicians security of the CPSI EHR. Also, responsible for the addition and maintenance of the EHR system item master and price tables.
During my tenure, assisted department Managers (Acute & Psych) to successfully implement Computer Physician Order Entry (CPOE) for inpatient units.
Served as the project lead to convert the ambulatory clinics from CPSI to Athena Health EMR.
Held the position of HIPAA Security Officer and was responsible for policies, investigation and enforcement.
Due to the departure of the Manager of HIM, I was asked to manage the HIM department as an additional duty. The HIM staff included six full-time employees. Thus, the last three years, I was responsible for the supervision of ten employees and budgeting for both departments.

Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center, 186 Hospital Drive, Grantsville, WV 26147
Duties included, Supervision of staff (4), assisting in setting the direction of I.S. services for the hospital and clinics, purchasing and installing equipment, including work stations with hardware. Maintained the data center and was the liaison between the hospital, staff and CPSI. Was the leader to install, order entry in the ancillary departments, electronic forms in the emergency room, CPOE for the Physician for in patient care and assisted the Radiology department to install the first electronic PACS while developing the process of digitizing films.
Was instrumental in assisting the CEO & COO in applying and defending the application for critical access hospitals for Meaningful Use for Medicaid/Medicare, receiving $750,000.
Media/Interim Library Director - August 1985 - December 2000
Glenville State College, 200 High Street, Glenville, WV 26351
Duties included, supervision of library staff (30), providing media and hardware for classroom support throughout the campus. Also, provided photography and videography services for the campus and other electronic equipment; including sound systems for all performances. Designed, acquired and installed a state-of-the-art video conferencing system in a distance learning style between the Glenville campus, Flatwoods, Summersville, Spencer & Weston off site locations.
During these years, I held several positions, including, Audio/Visual Technician, Senior Electronics Technician, Media Director and lastly Interim Library Director.
Director, Gilmer County - Emergency Management - November 1987 - May 2009
Part-time position, Duties included, responsible for all aspects of emergency preparedness for the county. Including, policies, training, drills and working directly with the state Office of Emergency Management. Served on the Gilmer/Lewis 911/Addressing board. Served as chairman of the Gilmer County - Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC). Reported directly to the Gilmer County Commission attending monthly meetings as necessary. Responsible fiscally for department budgeting and encumbered finances as well as application of the yearly Emergency Management Planning Grant.
Financial Manager/EMT - Gilmer County Ambulance Service - April 1989 - October 2017
Part-time position, Duties included, supervising employees (32) while serving as the Secretary for the Ambulance Authority. Was responsible for budgeting, encumbrances of finances, ordering of supplies, building maintenance, staff hiring, scheduling and supervising of staff. Worked directly with the contracted insurance biller for billing and collections and the contracted accountant to manage all aspects for financials for income and disbursements. Trained as a First Responder and EMT in 1988 through December 2018. Spending approximately 30 years providing pre-hospital EMT care for the community, I received personal satisfaction in helping others and saving lives.
