Peninsula Health Center is a part of the VA Department of Public Health (VDPH) and has several satellite units throughout the Newport News-York County area. Initially, Charge Nurse Later promoted to Supervisor/Manager. Grant program for Family Planning, federal grant program and OB/GYN programs. Monthly reports (5).
Family Planning clinics were scheduled at outlying sites on specific days a week. Each site had a full ancillary staff and the RN travelled, as the physician.

The Norfolk Department of Public Health (NDPH) is a part of the Virginia Department of Public Health (VDOH). Promoted as Public Health Nurse Supervisor/Manager for the Pediatric Clinic. NDPH is a metropolitan setting with multiple sites.
Promoted: As Public Health Nurse Supervisor/Manager, multiple Health Department facility. Started as Charge Nurse (3 years) in Family Planning in I served for 16 years in VA Department of Public Health service. The pediatric clinic setting provided clinical staff of 24 in two outlying clinical sites with the physician stationary at the site for full-day. Serving metropolitan population health. Reviewed staff blueprints and smartsheets for healthcare delivery: patients’ assessments, screenings and treatment for General Medical services, Maternal services, Pediatric medical services and Dental services. Developed polices and procedures, monthly meetings with educational piece every two months and monthly record review via rotating nursing staff. Submitted monthly reports. Wellness and Healthy projects. We provided patient-centered healthcare.
The clinic flow was always a challenge. Always trying to create the best patient-mix with staff coverage in serving the population we served. Efficiency is the goal.
Involved the City mayor with a partnership with our Pediatric initiative of increasing health education in the lobby were parent-child waited. We were able to provide large TV consoles each site lobby: sending monthly pediatric education topics on large discs of new material that lasted eight-hours of varied information daily. Surveys from the parents gave us high marks.
A local artist donated a mural depicting an aquarian scene at the registration desk and “little ones” occupied themselves touching the walls of fish and sea plants.
Executed staff training and team-building exercises at both sites, and hiring staff. This FTE position allowed the autonomy to meet the goals and objectives of the clinic under the Virginia Department of Public Health.

Providing health care delivery-evidence-based and on obstetrics unit and labor and delivery (L&D) in obstetrics, accu-checks equipment utilization for gestational diabetes maternity patients, newborn care classes. Later, managed a clinical team on Tobacco Cessation for all Navy personnel who smoked. Held classes on docked ships, navy classrooms on shore day and evening and on mobile units (Winnebago) parked at the navy docks.

Riverside Regional Hospital is known to provide the state of the art in healthcare delivery. Med-surgery unit in previous hospital then, labor & delivery unit and NICU. Later accepted a position on the Mother-Baby unit. All units required patient education information and strategies to provide mother care and infant nourishment routes (breastfeeding or formula) for healthy outcomes.
As Charge Nurse, I developed with nurse manager a staff rotation schedule in review of hospital safety, equipment checks, OSHA, CPR, universal precautions, etc., maintenance of nursing skills during calendar year. The nursing staff were required to have completed their employee checklist regarding updating and maintaining nursing skills prior to annual employee review. Med-surg unit and Telemetry Unit, as charge nurse with assignment on day/evening shift. On telemetry unit, assigned serious cardiac condition patients before discharged to step-down.

Developed a evidence based theoretical approach to study preceptorship complex nursing healthcare readiness from a design-pattern perspective and proposed a system developing independent app innovation the hospitals.
Analyzed present hospital buddy-system to preferred preceptorship programs and markets for this booming improvement for Professional Nurses and constructed to optimized a model for established start-up perspective.
The summarized thesis helped the start-up to shape their strategic partnerships with local healthcare service providers with clinic settings, as more and more hospitals adopt the program expanding their community target markets and training for their novice and newly hired Professional Nurses.
