On-Site Project Engineering, Project Administration, and Construction Managemnet Services for the new 2.5 MW (n+1) deisel-fueled generator to provide emergency backup power (electricity) to nearby hospital facilities. The new generator being installed is classified as an “n+1” addition to the existing diesel generators at the Steam Plant. Daily duties include thorough daily progress reports summarizing all contractor work activities along with photo logs and detailed captions to provide a visual timeline of the work completed. This “life-critical” project requires careful, thorough review of project schedule and precise planning of Outages for tie-ins of new equipment for HVAC, Fuel Oil Piping, Urea Piping, Electrical, and Control Systems updates.

STEAM & CHILLER WATER SYSTEM

INTERCONNECTION (Pittsburgh, PA)

On-site Project Engineering, Project Administration, and Construction Management services for the new steam underground steam piping interconnection from the existing Uptown steam system servicing Mercy Hospital and the new Duquesne University campus steam system located in Gibbons Energy Center, attached to Locust Parking Garage. The steam system was designed by Venture and installed by SSMI with Venture being the Owner’s Representative for Clearway Energy and providing construction management services and oversight of the piping installation throughout the entire construction phase up through successful system start-up and commissioning.

Responsibilities included:

• Daily Reports of work progress with detailed descriptions of work accomplished by mainly the General (mechanical) Contractor, the excavation/rigging subcontractor, as well as all other subcontractors on site, with site photos.

• Document control and organizing all project documentation.

• Review of all technical documentation submitted by the General Contractor.

• General project coordination between all contractors, engineering team, and owner.

• Led weekly project meetings and typed meeting minutes to send out to project team for status updates and addressing concerns.

• Creating issuing and submitting RFI’s and coordinating design changes based on existing, unmarked, underground utilities.

• Keeping logs current such as RFI Log, Change Order Log, and tracking additional work orders via T&M Labor forms.

• Writing Monthly Work Progress Reports for the 6-months of construction, and startup phase, summarizing work progress with detailed status of work completed or in-progess at every area on site, including a timeline of extensive progress photos of the work completed, and also outlining and explaining project changes while highlighing any issues/concerns.

• Coordinating all owner requests/demands and ensuring they are fulfilled, while keeping safety a number one priority.

• Measuring the expansion joints before and after startup to calculate thermal growth after system heat up phase.

• Developing a Cost Estimate for the installation of a typical underground Steam/Chill Water System to determine the Cost per Linear Foot of piping for future project planning purposes. JCI GAS SAMPLING (Somerset, PA)
