Sponsored through the University of Notre Dame, the House of Brigid (Teach Bhride) is a year-long post-grad internship where young Catholics live and work in community with an Irish parish for the purpose of cultural immersion, catechetical & musical service, and personal formation. Duties included musical participation and collaboration in three church choirs (traditional, children’s music, and folk), administration and communication between the parish and two primary schools, sacrament preparation for students receiving Confession, Communion and Confirmation. As a lay community, House of Brigid fellows committed themselves to personal prayer through monthly spiritual direction, communal prayer led weekly by individual members, community meals served weekly within the home and outreach towards the wider faith community.

As House Director, I oversaw and led the community house meetings, took care of house bills, addressed areas of conflict, distributed tasks for other fellows and parish members. During this year, I led the school children’s choir for their opening/closing, Confirmation and Communion 2

masses. I also helped introduce, organize, and lead the music for monthly Taize services in the general Wexford faith community.

As a violinist, my area of study surrounded education, performance and research within the field of classical music. I took classes in conducting, piano, and had intensive private violin lessons. By learning theory and aural training, I learned how to sight-read, understand, and perform music effectively. I participated in the Women's Choir, NAU Chamber quartets and the NAU Symphony Orchestra, performed in violin recitals, taught violin students in Suzuki String pedagogy, and researched the history and practice of world, folk, classical and atonal music.
