Objective: Create something, every day.

Description: I'm an engineering professional with a Full Stack Web Development Certification focused in Computer Software Engineering with web development experience since 1995. I’m the developer that people who use developers settle on for the long term. My focus for the last several years has been Wordpress, often with the WooCommerce plugin. Core Skills

My Creations:

I started developing for the web in 1995. I had a background in Fortran and RPG from government work and a background in Electronics from the U.S. Navy so I was a natural. I learned HTML, Javascript and Photoshop through online coursework and tutorials and started making websites. By 2004, I was working at a professional level for Mad Dog Multimedia in San Diego having added PHP and SQL to my repertoire.

From 2005 to 2011, I have made a slew of websites and web products both organic and based on Wordpress, Expression Engine, Drupal and eCommerce platforms. During this time, I personally developed a product called the Flash Calendar that used PHP/mySQL to feed a Flash component. This product targeted entertainment professionals and was used by comedians, Yoga studios, fitness professionals and some private institutions like churches and community centers. As an exercise, I’m converting the Flash component to an ES6 class.

My creations include from-the-ground-up custom Wordpress themes and plugins using Wordpress best practices, both client and server side programming for a number of small businesses, a complete call center built from the ground up using CodeIgniter, IVR software and a telecommunications suite and membership sites.

My latest project involved a custom Wordpress theme for a site using WooCommerce built for speed with all the design choices hardwired for fewer DB calls and less decision making. We achieved load times of 2.8 to 3.5 seconds across all pages. The same theme included a custom 'control center' that queried the DB for things like Lifetime Value (LTV) of customers and an order calculator that analyzed incoming orders and current inventory compared against a sizes spread and target inventory to automatically generate supplier purchase orders saving around 10 to 15 hours a month and avoiding PEBKAC issues. ONNO

Boulder, CO

Lead Developer

Technologies: PHP, mySQL, HTML(5), CSS(3), Wordpress, WooCommerce, custom theme, custom plugins, API, AJAX, Database administration, complex SQL queries, eCommerce. I started working with Jack Kanefield in 2012 and continued to do so through 2019. In the course of my work for him the maker of the eCommerce software he was using folded. We did an emergency migration to WordPress where I built a custom theme to match the functionality of his previous site. This resulted in load times of 3 seconds and less.

User Category: This system was extended to include 4 flavors of wholesale and three flavors of Direct to Consumer. Presentation of product pages, cart, checkout and thank-you pages depend on customer category.

Dynamic pricing: Wholesale customers are offered quantity discounts that are displayed on the product pages and used to calculate the ONNO cart totals.

Dynamic shipping: D2C gets free shipping in continental US, USPS to Hawaii and Puerto Rico and USPS or UPS internationally. Wholesale gets UPS in the U.S. and USPS to 2 pounds with DHL for more than two pounds.

Custom Theme: The theme started with index.php and styles.css and was built from the ground up with an eye towards speed. The theme includes custom pages and purpose built

Control Panel: in the WP admin section there is an additional menu option that allows the site owner a number of custom options in a series of Single Page Applications (SPAs). o Define product galleries for each color of each style. o Manage applications for wholesale accounts

o Create Purchase Orders for vendors using on-hand and in-transit numbers against a target level filtered through a size distribution ratio.

o Letters. A section for editing the custom emails sent out during the application process as well as follow ups to sales, requests for reviews and shipment notifications. o D2C reporting for Lifetime Value (LTV) and average order values. o A streamlined system for adding pixels (Facebook, Taboola, Outbrain, Pinterest etc.) to pages.

o D2C buffers. The site buffers the inventory levels shown to wholesale to ensure a sufficient supply for D2C.

Tava Corporation

Carlsbad, CA

Lead Developer

Technologies: Vanilla PHP, mySQL, HTML, CSS(2), SOAP, REST, API Programmed a number of iterations of membership systems that gave clients the ability to upload contact lists and, depending on the product, schedule robocalls, email blasts or SMS blasts and for some products, a combination. This project was far-ranging touching on everything from updating a profile in the database to uploading mega lists (without timing out), deduping the lists and databasing the result. One product was further developed to allow reselling the service and tracked funds and payouts through an arbitrary number of levels. All products interfaced with an SaaS provider through SOAP and REST and included scheduling and throttling.

QueueActive.com

Phoenix, AZ

Developer

Technologies: PHP, mySQL, CodeIgniter, Active Records, HTML, CSS, SOAP, API, MVCI I developed this call center site for timeshare sales from the ground up using CodeIgniter and PSD mockups. This custom application uses a REST API to pull information from a service and track prospects through the vetting and sales flow. The user model features a permissions system for caller, manager and admin. The views are dynamic, heavily scripted using AJAX and jQuery and update dynamically. Your Neighborhood Studio

Los Angeles, CA

Developer

Technologies: PHP, mySQL, Javascript, CSS, Wordpress, Flash, AJAX When Denise Mazan started her own studio, she chose me for the initial development and subsequent updates for years. I handled the remake and all of the updates as well as two installations of my Flash Calendar. Shortly after we transitioned to Wordpress, she started her second studio. I used the same Wordpress installation for both studios separating the styling for the two sites with a tiny snippet of code that queued style sheets based on post category or page parent. She has since sold the studios at quite a nice profit.

I also worked for her husband Steve Mazan setting up his site in Wordpress and installing my Flash Calendar which he used to publicize his tours.

The Groove by Misty Tripoli

International

Developer

Technologies: PHP, mySQL, Javascript, CSS, Wordpress, Flash, AJAX, API, software integration aMember I created Misty’s first organic site in 2004, and the remake in 2007 and the make-over in 2010. In 2012 we moved her over to Wordpress. I continued to do her web work through her stint as a Nike sponsored fitness instructor. When she launched her own brand in 2013, I created a site that triples as a business card site, trainings signup and instructor resources site integrated with aMember for restricted access to the training and enrichment materials. She has since moved to an Agency with more manpower and resources but I note they’re still using the Class Finder I programmed in 2015. Mark Cicchetti

Education

High School: Graduated Boca Raton High School in 1979 Highest Level: Some college, mostly directed course work to support my work. Vocational: U.S. Navy 1989-1993. Electronics Technician A and C schools. Specialty Digital Radar and Satellite communications.

Online: Edx, FreeCodeCamp, LinkedIn Learning, Tutorials from my learned colleagues across the web and desperate posts from my beleaguered colleagues in Stack Overflow. Current Interests:

I’ve taken courses in LinkedIn Learning and FreeCodeCamp on ReactJS and NodeJS but can’t claim Ninja status with them. Yet. Give me a year or a project and I’ll own them. I’m studying up on EcmaScript 6 (ES6). Love the arrow functions but still trying to figure out how promises are better than passing a callback. Finally, extensible classes in Javascript! I’m using Electron to build a contact keeper based on my Wife’s Palm Pilot software. Electron is built on NodeJS (score) which uses ES6 (bonus!) and can be configured to use ReactJS (challenge o.o) to create desktop programs (stretch). If I need a project, I make them up. The many times I’ve rewritten the game Craps; BASIC, FORTRAN, Visual BASIC, JAVA, Javascript and Flash. Links:
