ABOUT ME

I have a great interest working within the industry of roofing, restoration, and remodeling. Whether it is residential or commercial, I have had the opportunity to spend many years working in both sectors. It is what I love to do and what I know. I am applying for this position because I believe that with over 30 years of experience in various construction trades, I have gained a wealth of knowledge as well as some invaluable experience. With that knowledge and experience, I believe I can be a great asset to any team that has a culture of doing things the right way. I believe I can offer something in the areas of project estimating, project management, and/or sales. These are all skills I learned to sharpen while operating my own business for 16 years. While I have much to learn, and many areas to grow in, I hope to find the right fit where I can be both an asset to the company I am working for as well as continue to improve on my skill set.

EDUCATION

WORK EXPERIENCE

February 2021– September 2022

Estimator/Project Manager Central Confinement Service LLC Columbus, NE 68601

The company focused on the animal confinement segment of general contracting and construction, as well as design building meat processing facilities.

The occasional shop/metal building construction consisted of both wood frame or pole frame along with steel constructions too.

There were also the hoop barns or fabric covered barns as well that came in on the estimating side.

I worked very closely with the sales and drafting team to put together estimates for design build projects.

Every estimate was tailored to the specific needs of the client, so there would be many changes throughout the drafting process, quoting process, and then of course the proposal process.

We as a team worked very hard through the sales process to close deals and land projects.

Secure subcontractors for the projects to be completed by negotiating wages.

Maintained profitability within each project.

Project management was mainly done from the office most of the time since the bulk of these projects had superintendents on them.

March 2005– February 2021

JB Services LLC 7303 LaVista, NE 68128

Secure permitting per city requirements then order and supply material based upon scope of work.

Pull from the current network of subcontractor database and negotiate a wage for both profitability but also keeping in mind the quality of work.

Maintain customer relations throughout the process of each project while giving continuous updates and being available for questions.

Manage each project daily to ensure subcontractors have what they need, the schedule is maintained, as well as keeping the budget intact.

Hold progress meetings to stay informed of any changes or issues and keep the communication open.

Submit and secure any and all change orders needed to maintain continuity of the project.

Submit progress billing and final billing as needed for each project.

Subcontract with roofing company as a sales consultant to help with storm claims.

Follow up on generated leads as well as knock doors for prospective client.

Meet with prospective clients for consultations as well as the insurance adjusters for the inspections.

Thoroughly explain the insurance paperwork and how the insurance company works, along with what to expect while the work was commencing so the client’s understood the whole process.

Collect the ACV check after the contract is signed and set a schedule for commencement.

Manage the project from the material delivery, subcontractors, client relations, and supplementals, all the way to completion and clean up.

Invoice and collect the final payment, the depreciation check, then have the customer sign off on the certificate of completion. Best of all, there is usually a satisfied client and new friend afterwards.

One of the the greatest accomplishments and compliments I can attribute to my career in this business after all these years, is all of the friends I have gained from the clients I have done work for. Those friendships and lifetime relationships are of a far greater value than any check I could ever cash. It has been said, “When you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life.” Although I have had the privilege to be a part of some really cool projects, it is the cultivation of relationships that has been the greatest reward.
