GREAT PLAINS ENERGY (GPE), CONSTRUCTION SERVICES ADMINISTRATOR
10/16/2008 – 04/18/2016
My recent duties at GPE were orientation, safety, and planning of all contractor jobs on site, including daily schedules and updates of all contractor activities, implementing LOTO for the contractors and interfacing with the plant maintenance to fulfill their needs of the contractors. Before this most recent job, I was in the union as a Plant Equipment Operator, in this role I helped keep the equipment running that would produce the power at the plant. I recently completed supervising the replacement of all the failing underground Fire Protection valves and piping at our plant. I also suggested trying to implement a QA/QC department at our company to improve interface with contractors when they were on site and thus ease lines of communication.
ENERFAB, SUPERINTENDENT
10/08/2007 – 10/15/2008
My duties involved coordinating various contractor activities at the Iatan Generating Station unit #2 construction site. There were numerous contractors on site and I acted as a liaison for Great Plains Energy as the plant was being constructed. I supervised a crew of 18 – 20 laborers and 5 carpenters who conducted site maintenance during construction of the Iatan Unit #2 project
KISSICK CONSTRUCTION, UNION CARPENTER
03/02/2007 – 10/08/2007
As a union carpenter, I was a member of a team that installed the underground duct banks and vaults for the electrical supplies at Iatan unit #2. We formed, and poured the concrete that encased the miles of electrical conduit at this facility. When our foreman was absent the superintendent used my experience to lead the crew.
R HUDSON CONSTRUCTION, INC, OWNER/PRESIDENT
06/01/1996 – 05/01/2005
As owner of this business, I took care of all the A/P, A/R, bids, meeting with new customers and the daily overseeing and implementation of construction of custom homes in the Platte County area. I have worked all phases of residential and minor commercial construction from the footings to the shingles, and the inside from electrical, HVAC to hardwood floor installation. It was a very fulfilling experience having your own business, but also very time consuming and it took many hours away from my family while my boys were growing up.
EDUCATION
UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI – KANSAS CITY, KANSAS CITY, MO, BBA-CBIS 1984
I graduated with a Bachelors in Business Administration with a GPA of 3.2. I am currently taking classes at MCC on Welding Safety and Thermal Cutting Processes and received a 4.0. In October of 2014 I passed my CWI exam with AWS and have recently passed AWS’s SENSE test with a perfect score of 35.
COMMUNICATION
At GPE, my job entailed detailed coordination with the boiler engineers at the plant. A key facet of my supervisory duties was open and effective communication with them to keep the plant’s outages on schedule and meeting critical milestones, while maintaining the safety of the workers, environment, equipment and ensuring quality craftsmanship was being produced.
LEADERSHIP
I am an Eagle Scout and have been an adult leader in the BSA for well over 15 years. Over the last 20 years, I owned and led my own construction company for 9+ years and worked in project supervision for 6 additional years. I am self-motivated and goal oriented.
