Oversaw the direction of 200 safety and health professionals in the areas of safety, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, training, and publications.

Managed a budget of $20 million on a statewide basis. Implemented a Safety Incentive Program (SIP) to work closely with penalty rated employers to improve their costs.

Instrumental in reducing loss rates in Ohio over 18% in two years and returned over $5.5 billion to employers.

Worked closely with all groups in the state relating to the group-rating program. The Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation is the largest single line insurance company in the world. The Division of Safety and Hygiene provides services to over 290,000 businesses in the state.

Manager, Safety Engineering

Managed the safety-engineering department for contract at NASA Lewis Research Center. Contract size in excess of $22 million.

Performed project management work with a department of 20 personnel in the areas of Systems Safety Engineering and Industrial Safety and Health, including major construction projects for office buildings, research facilities, and facility improvement projects. 1988 – 1990 Laidlaw Environmental Services, Cleveland, OH Manager - Safety, Health, and Security

Managed the environmental health, safety, and security program for large hazardous waste company with numerous facilities that serviced government and industrial waste procedures for the safe storage, handling and transportation of hazardous waste. This included the construction of a large incinerator on the property for disposing of waste. 1987 – 1988 NUS Corporation, Pittsburgh, PA

Safety Engineer

Implemented and developed environmental health and safety plans for the education and protection of individuals working on hazardous waste sites for government and industrial clients. Served as Project Health and Safety Manager at designated sites. Developed tests and validated industrial hygiene field sampling and analysis procedures. Instructed hazardous waste workers on safety and health matters in HAZWOPPER training classes required under 29 CFR 1910.120, and also in 29CFR 1926 for the construction work done on the waste sites and facilities.
