Responsibilities Include: Design and release material handling automation systems (Conveyors).

Calculation, Power Transmission, Equipment Sizing, Research & Development, Insulation Drawings (Complex Cross-Sections), Project Management, (DCR) Document Control Review, Weekly Meetings. Catwalk designs, OSHA compliant specifications.

Design, development, and delivery of parcel distribution solutions (conveyors systems).

Mechanical Engineer

Responsible for successful implementation, designing, process improvements, innovative ideas, Procurement, problem solving:

Designed robotic gripper mechanism with DC-Powered Electromagnets that held a series of 9 fingers. (displayed at the Georgia World Congress Center-patent pending)

o1st three fingers remove and hold Cap until 2nd and 3rd setup is completed.

o2nd setup allowed removal of dull blade from slitter holder and hold for 3rd setup.

o3rd setup place sharp blade on slitter holder, revolve 240-degree, place Cap that was on idle mode, then returned home with dull blade. This design was intended to reduce downtime with blade change and eliminate the need for an operator touching the slitter blade.

Designed Innovative Cast Aluminum Holder that functions as both right- and left-hand position for Slitter Blades. The Cast Holder was designed for easy installments, accurate location for blade mount and replacement of 12 machined parts that ultimately reduce the price of the holder by 40%. This design had over 20 customer repeat orders.

Reverse engineer a die press for M.A. Industries that produce porous plastic parts for a wide range of pharmaceutical applications. The plastic parts allow gases to escape while preventing liquids and chemicals from passing through. Initial press was designed to carry loads of 70 lbs. New design resized to carry loads of over 280 lbs. (8 machine table mount and 1 press ranged over 3000 Solidworks parts)

Design Engineer

Responsible for successful implementation, designing, process improvements, innovative ideas, time management, problem solving:

Designed 20ft long Winder Station that create Fiber Drums from initial stage to finish. The Winder includes an automated exit and return glue pan system along with a roller Cam mechanism that steer it from damaging critical rollers when overhauling for maintenance.

Designed an automated Brush Line Machine that include: Robotic Grippers, Hard Stop Lift table, Steel Drum Orientor for Weld Bead positioning, Nip Station for shearing Welds on opposite sides of Steel drum, and Brush station to polishing Welds for a natural look. Total cycle time include: 128” in 10sec @ 65ft/min.

Design and help manufacture custom metal forming machines for Steel Drums that can form beads with corrugations, Neck-in (loop), Flange (lip), Body Expanders, Etc.

Design Roll Cage Antenna Housing that carries a series of antenna, ranging from 2-40 GHZ. The antenna is used to measure the radar cross section of an object in order to determine how well radar will see the target. The Cage required a high-level degree of accuracy. In order to provide uniformity in the drawing specifications, GD&T were used to reduce controversy, guesswork, and assumptions throughout the manufacturing and inspection process.

Mechanical Engineer

Responsible for successful implementation, designing, process improvements, innovative ideas, scheduling, time management, problem solving, coordinating and 3D designs.

Design automated Vision Slitting Carpet Line that tracks and slits carpet into 4 sections by way of a cognex camera. The Cognex Camera is mounted on six carriages with a motor, slitter blade and toggle assembly. A ball screw Actuator is mounted to each of the carriages to allow for slow push and pull modifications in register with the camera.

Vision Slitting Carpet Line, including:

oGravity Rail Conveyor, Flip Carpet Conveyor, Unwind, Dancer, Carriage Slitting Assemblies, Salvage Edge Trimmers, Pull Roller Assemblies, Cradle oscillate Assembly, and Rewind Machine.

Designed structural frame that concealed a Digester Vessel in the load and tumbling position for mixing and heating pulp at 200 degree Celsius for the Institute of Paper Science and Technology.

Design a Pre-fold Flag machine that accepts incoming flags that are hemmed. The flag enters the conveyor from the center, it pauses then a folder arm moves into place and folds it in half.

Designed a Textile machine that shortens the time it takes to stack and unload variable size Terry Towels. The Terry Towel enters the machine at 32ft per minute and doubles its speed as soon as the entire length of the towel is consumed.

Designed a machine that could pull and cut Hook and Loop materials at various lengths and widths. The machine has an innovative central guide system that allows webs of different size widths to stay centered before entering the Die Cutter. Also, a design element was implemented that kept the web from being trap between the table and the guide rails when traveling at 20 inch per second.

Design and supervised the manufacturing of an entire Coating Station for Prescott Valley plant to put in-line on their Premier Press to apply Anti-Fog coating in register with the print.

oProduct label stacker / dispenser including pneumatic robotic actuator.

oReciprocating trimmer, used in shape and tape sewing operations.

oLaminating line, Coating Station, Etc.

Design and fabricated a second Coating Station that saved Printpack more than $1,000,000 annually in costs and quality returns. The new compact station was specifically designed to fit in a very constricted location and to add primer to the film before extrusion lamination.

Made recommendations and process improvements for optically aligning a Blown Film Line for Grand Prairie Films Plant.

Designed an innovative Auxiliary Layon Roll system for New Castle Plant, Line 42. The Layon Roll was designed to keep an even nip pressure during roll turreting and splicing.

Gravure roller for the Villa Rica Converting Plant contained a tapered journal and bushing that resulted in concentricity problems. Improved by re-boring the journal to specification and replacing the tapered bushing with the shaft-hub locking Device. This provided good self-centering action and concentricity as well as increased torque capacity. This stops the wobbling when in running position.
