As an Accounting Technician I have independently performed administrative and technical functions associated with accounting. Expertise in accounts payable, account receivable, imprest funds and accounting service. I have used the Financial Management Information System (FMIS) now known as Unified Financial Management System (UFMS) to process obligations and invoices as well as travel vouchers, generic and receipt entries. I have managed aspect of purchase orders, contracts, travel authorizations and settlements and enter data on a computerized financial system. I assist in the preparation of monthly account reconciliations utilizing the CORS report from FMIS. The accounting functions carried out have a direct impact on the accuracy of the official BOP financial records. I assist in the year end closeout by comparing fund control with the CORS report from FMIS and identify the differences. I maintain, balance, and reconcile accounts and records and compile reports from FMIS used directly by Financial Management and other cost centers for projecting, planning and controlling costs. I respond to email requests for pay arrangements as instructed by my supervisor and verified status of account with vendors. I have resolved issue and answered complex questions relating to Financial Management. I have been successful at managing multiple assignments while meeting tight deadlines.
As a primary cashier I am responsible for all cash accounting, collections and negotiable instruments, controlled documents and preparing certificates of deposits and receipts. I review obligation reports to assist with fund control. I receive all incoming negotiable instruments and prepare them for deposit with the Federal Reserve Bank. I enter the appropriate accounting entries in Financial Management Information System (FMIS) for incoming funds. I oversee the entire imprest Funds. I also research and follow up to ensure accuracy in every aspect of my assigned duties. I collect funds from the Debitek/Cash to card machine weekly. I ensure readings are taken at the time of the collection, the register of transaction is printed, and verified that funds collected matches with the printed report. I have prepared inmate releases, obligations, payments and cash accountability. I assist in processing travel, I have followed Bureau of prisons policy as well as Federal Travel regulations for all staff. I utilize E2 solutions system by preparing travel authorizations and travel advances to institution employees prior to their trip. I have prepared travel settlements and ensure they are processed in a timely manner, I have reviewed travel receipts and settlements prior to processing for certification. I have maintained Bureau of Prisons program statements, operations memoranda and federal regulations. I have assisted in Operational Review for financial Management.
