A skilled advisor guiding and motivating clients to develop an action plan to achieve personal growth and reaching future goals. Key competencies include: PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE (2019 back to 2012)

As a youth mentor I led discussions with at risk troubled adolescents and various members of the community including social workers, teachers, parents, probation and police officers with the goal of empowering young men to address issues, develop solutions and set achievable goals.

Leveraged my training in active listening, conversation mirroring, vulnerability and validation to create a space where participants felt safe to discuss their experiences.

Used my education in the effects of trauma, victimization and life experiences which contribute to delinquency to develop a way of connecting with youth in a meaningful way.

While practicing, respect, empathy and genuine concern I helped by means of the S.Q.U.I.R.E.S program to expose and impress upon participants the realities of the consequences resulting from a single, irrevocable, life changing decision.

Guided participants to make the connection between underlying emotional suffering, the lack of healthy emotional outlets, the outward expression of anger, violence and addiction that could lead to incarceration. Coordinated discussions leading to a deep understanding of how one’s mental health is affected by childhood, generational and sexual abuse with an emphasis on recognizing and mitigating mental and behavioral issues leading to suicide within a correctional institution.

Assisted incarnated men develop skills to maintain mental health, creating structured plans to address distressing feelings, anxiety and life issues to prevent a person from experiencing a crisis.

Provided tools promoting empowerment, personal responsibility, self-determination, coping skills, and resiliency to reduce the risk of harming one’s self or others.

Supported efforts to ensure holistic tools were available to promote mental wellness for the men who lived behind prison walls thereby creating a community in which they would thrive. Facilitated peer support group circles focused on educating incarcerated men of the far-reaching effects of their crime, learning how to take ownership for one’s choices, to forgive and heal their trauma.

Focused on creating an environment of connection, trust and vulnerability with an authentic recounting of my own personal experiences, challenges and failures.
