Moses Kachingwe is an experienced Psychosocial Counselor with experience in providing general counseling and conducting medical research obtained during clinical practice at various institution in addition Moses Kachingwe has strong knowledge and experience in general nursing . Moses Kachingwe hold a Bachelor of Arts in Guidance and counselling and a diploma in nursing and midwifery, registered with Medical Council, and Nurses and Midwives Council of Malawi, and attended several professional trainings. Position: Psychosocial Counsellor
Essential Duties
Provide high-quality psychosocial care services and related therapeutic functions to people living with HIV, their partners, families and caregivers and others affected by the infection.
Proving mental health services such as health promotion, prevention, treatment, peer support and self-help that help an individual living with HIV.
Help improve service delivery, by ensure delivery of the under-prescribed duties and responsibilities in compliance with the existing Baylor College of Medicine Standard Operating Procedures, Malawi Mental Health Treatment Act, Medical Practitioners and Dentist Act, Mental Health Policy and Medical Council of Malawi Code of Conduct and Patient Charter.
Provide a safe/conducive environment which will aid client’s free expression of feelings.
Offer counselling services over the phone to clients referred remotely and in person as needed.
Carry out routine psychological assessments on patients/ clients through interviews, observations and tests including depression and assessment for risk of suicidal thoughts.
Develop and provide appropriate individual, couple, family and group based psychotherapeutic interventions with clear assessment and intervention plan for each client.
Ensure proper documentation and storage of client-related information such as assessment notes, screening and diagnostic records, intervention plan and treatment/progress records in health passport and Program’s record keeping tools.
Collaborate with team members and make necessary referrals of clients for clinical care or other interventions based on standard operating procures and specific client’s needs.
Draw a follow up plan for each client and communicate with the referring facility to ensure it is documented for reference.
Ensure feedback is given to the referring officer in an appropriate and timely manner.
Adhere to clients’ rights to privacy and confidentiality including their records.
Regularly evaluate the impact of psychotherapeutic interventions and educational programs through operational research and other related developments that are appropriate and relevant to the clients’ and service needs and Assist in strengthening the existing programs offered by the Program.
Provide relevant consultation counselling services to the facility staff
Represent the Program on matters of psychosocial care services.
Prepare reports using the Program’s standard reporting template and submit them on time.
