B. BRIEF INTRODUCTION

I obtained a Bachelors of Science Education Honors degree in Chemistry at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria. Because of my eloquence in sports (particularly basketball and soccer) and after having been employed as a graduate assistant to teach human anatomy and physiology and basketball at the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), Nigeria, I was sponsored on University Fellowship to the United States of America. I completed the Masters degree in Kinesiology/Exercise Physiology at the University of Kansas, Lawrence KS, USA and the PhD in Exercise Physiology in the same University. As part of the PhD, students offered and must satisfactorily complete a compulsory “University Teaching Experience” course because the Program was an Education degree. Between 1991 and 1993 and later in 1997, I was appointed the Director of the Institute of Physical and Health Education at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria. As the academic head of the Unit, I was involved in course allocation, examinations, promotions, curriculum evaluation and revision and so on. The job also involved being the Director of Sports for the University. I was in charge of the day-to-day running of the extramural and intramural sports programs. I was thus the Sports Organizer/Coordinator of more than thirteen competitive students and staff sports, while also attending to their recreational and leisure pursuits. At the University of Zimbabwe and the University of Namibia, I was the coordinator of the Physical Education Program. At the Obafemi Awolowo University, I was the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Education and the Coordinator of the Part-Time Degree Program. Between 2006 and 2008, I served as the Dean, Division of Student Affairs at the Obafemi Awolowo University. Throughout these periods, I was on several committees of the Faculty and the University. I have acquired managerial experience by serving in different capacities from these universities.
