Access Services Librarian (02/2002 – 05/2019)

National Library of Medicine, NIH, Bethesda MD

Responsible for the interlibrary loan (ILL), reference and reading room activities of the National Library of Medicine (NLM). Served as the Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR)/Project Officer for the ILL contract.

Recruited students for internship positions by posting open positions on university career websites, conducting interviews and reference checks and authorizing final hire.

Supervised library technicians, contractors and student interns and trained them in using interlibrary loan and reference related software and databases including PubMed, Voyager, Relais (for ILL workflow monitoring), OCLC, WorldCat, LocatorPlus, DOCLINE and Microsoft Office.

Assisted patrons with online searching in medical databases and publisher websites, and using reading room equipment such as scanners and microfilm readers. Ran monthly statistical reports in Cognos, prepared monthly/quarterly/annual reports and uploaded these documents into SharePoint.
