February2009- December 2010 Intensive Case Manager w/ Community Counseling Services

570-***-****

As a case manager, I dealt with people who’s mental health issues impeded their

daily life, to the point where small issues caused a crisis sometimes. I was quite

involved in the day to day issues of the people I helped; wore a few hats.

April 2008-December 2009 US Army Reserves Mental Health Specialist

I continued to train with the Army and went with my unit, the 865th CSH (combat

support hospital) to Ft. Gordon, GA 2 weeks annual training.

October 2003-March 2008 - Active Duty Soldier for the US Army

I was trained to be a Mental Health Specialist (MHS). I was deployed twice to Iraq as my unit’s MHS and continued my service during deployments while I was stationed in Ft. Hood, Texas.

March-Sept 2003 - Spectrum Associates Inc.

This was a family run business that set up booths for trade shows. Business has since been sold.

May 2002-February 2003 -Direct Care provider with Keystone Community Resources-Scranton, PA

I was a care provider in several group homes. I was not able to counsel, as that was not a part of my job

description. Lots of small talk and redirection took place.

October 2001-February 2002 Therapeutic Aid, Agency name unknown based in Montrose, PA

I was trained as a TSS and worked in at Choconut Elementary in PA. I assisted a 5th

grader with Asperger’s Syndrome.

June-August 2001 Camp Roosevelt Boy Scout Camp.

I taught the Archer Merit badge to boy aged 7-17 who were Cub and Boy Scouts.

September 1999-June 2001 - Washington County Psychotherapy Associates (Phone Help)

While I was earning my Bachelor’s at UMM, I worked for the crisis line Phone Help. I was able to talk to callers from the 4 counties the line serves. I assessed for safety and acted accordingly. I helped calm callers, reassured them, and empowered them to help themselves. I was also able to get a hold of a regional case manager that could call or meet them, as the situation required. The experience was amazing, but ultimately quite stressful; especially when talking to people with personality disorders who are uncertain of their own safety.

February-April 1997 After School Program, Dorrance United Methodist Kingston, PA Chester

Elementary School Kingston, PA

I was briefly a Direct Care Worker with the Nursery school program. I also ran a group

for the after-school program.

February 1996-August 1998 - V.I.S.I.O.N! Inc. (Volunteers in Service in Our Neighborhoods) Wilkes-Barre, PA

I was what I termed, the weekend shelter coordinator. This is an agency that, at the time, helped men in Luzerne County. Now, men and women are both helped. This program does not have a permanent building but has a network of churches, etc…that open their community rooms for a week or two at a time. I had to learn how to drive a 15 passenger van. I handled intake interviews for new and returning clients. Most importantly, I was able to talk to the men all weekend: about their lives, how they got to where they are, or we talked about sports or current events. The experience was quite fulfilling, very interesting, and amazing. The Agency is now DEFUNCT. The former Director has passed away.
