EDEN ADIRA PROFILE

My name is Eden Adira, I am a Kenyan Licensed Registered Nurse, working at MP Shah Hospital Nairobi.

I did my diploma nursing studies at Kenya Medical Training College-Nairobi Campus and graduated in December 2017 as a Kenya Registered Community Health Nurse. I have trainings in Basic Life support and Advanced Cardiovascular Life support as per the American Heart Association training, facilitated by MP Shah Hospital.

I have good working experience with The Nairobi West Hospital, a private hospital with a bed capacity of over 300 beds, having worked in different departments, for example, the medical-surgical department, casualty department, operating theatre, and maternity department, just to mention a few. I worked as a nursing officer, performing all nursing duties assigned to me.

I also have good working experience with The Nairobi IVF Centre Limited, a state-of-the-art fertility clinic based in Nairobi. Moreover, I worked at Compassionate Healthcare Training and Resource Centre as an assistant administrator and a patient assistant/nurse aid trainer. These three experiences have equipped me with basic management and leadership skills.

Currently, I am working at MP Shah Hospital, Medical-Surgical Unit. I have also worked in other departments in the hospital.

Duties and Responsibilities: -

Currently I hold a mid-senior level with duties as listed below

Providing mentorship to junior students

Orientating junior staff

Team leading and performing assistance in ward management

Planning as implementing quality patient care

Providing pre- and post- operative care.

Strict monitoring of the patient's vital signs especially the SPO2 levels and the temperature, since covid 19 is a respiratory viral infection.

Titrating oxygen levels depending on the patient’s oxygen demand and after communicating with the relevant doctor concerning the same.

Admission and discharge of covid 19 patients, following the MOH Protocols.

Administering prescribed medication through all the prescribed routes.

Teaching patients on how to perform breathing exercises and how to use the Incentive spirometer.

Health educating patients on hand hygiene and droplet precaution.

Feeding patients and providing the relevant nursing care as per the nursing process.

Ordering and dispensing of prescribed medication using the kranium system in liaison with the pharmacy department.
