Responsibilities:

Assists the Collection Manager in reviewing all internal issues for expedited resolution.

Performs timely resolution of patient inquiries/complaints, via telephone, in person, or in writing.

Ensures HIPPA compliance in all interactions pertaining to patient accounting, insurance processing and correspondence receives in the Finance Department.

Initiates charity care screening process in compliance with Department of Health regulations.

Establishes payment arrangements with patients and monitors status of accounts on a monthly basis.

Responds to all inquiries and correspondence form attorneys, collection agencies, and patients while account is in bad debt.

Process all return mail in a timely manner by contacting patients, physician offices, and patients’ employer, and exhausts all efforts to secure accurate information.

Updates all demographic information on both the clinical and financial system, and ensures ENAD screens are updated.

Documents all efforts on SMS/EPIC system for future retrieval.

Completes work station phone calls for all self-pay accounts on a weekly basis.

Works closely with the Department of Consumer Affairs in order to achieve optimal patient satisfaction.

Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those need (i.e. age culture language hearing and /or primary caregiver (s) at their level (developmental/age, educational, literacy, etc.).
