JOB DESCRIPTON:

- Supervision and delegation of duties to ensure smooth running of the dialysis unit

- Receive patient into the dialysis unit and make him/her comfortable

- Do brief physical assessment from head to toe to identify any changes from last dialysis visit

- Do brief history taking to have insight on patient daily activities between the last and current visit

- Ensure patient is weighed properly and recorded as it will guide on dialysis prescription

- Take patient vitas such as blood pressure, pulse rate, respiratory rate, temperature and oxygen saturation level (SPO2)

- Ensure every patient sees the doctor before each session of dialysis for review of medications, dialysis prescription and to estimate progress of treatment

- Take blood sample for laboratory investigations as prescribe

- Ensure laboratory results and retrieved before commencing dialysis treatment

- Disinfection of dialysis machines before and after use

- Threading of dialysis machines

- Priming of the dialysis machine and setting of parameters

- Femoral cannulation and AV fistula cannulation

- Dressing of dialysis access, maintaining proper asceptic techniques to prevent or minimize infection.

- Ensure the use of personal protective equipment when attending to dialysis patients

- Ensure periodic water treatment for delivery of safe water

- Ensure close monitoring of patient intra dialysis to prevent intra dialytic complications

- Ensure patient are adhere to their medications as prescribed

- Do follow up check to get feedback from the patient

- Administer medication as prescribed

- Book appointment for patient next visit
