Discovered overheating issue with PLC, unit was mounted in wrong orientation – it was mounted on it’s back, instead of it’s side- so there was no convection cooling – all the heat was trapped over the power supply. I turned the PLC, some cables needed to be changed (length mostly).

Attended SEMICON trade show in San Francisco for 1 day.

Troubleshot some robots for the WJ999 and discovered that all the robots have the same failure the Z axis. I got a new robot from customer service and went to the lab, hooked up some power and removed the covers on the robot, using a oscilloscope I measured voltage and current in transistors and found that the X, Y, Z, all used the same rated motor driver circuit. But the Z axis draws more current than X and Y. I presented my findings to the President and chief Engineer of the robot company in person at WJ – SEG. They said that they would repair all the robots in 6 months for free.
